Biographical Information

1. What accomplishment are you most proud of during your current term in office?

2. What more can be done to improve the functioning of the Town’s judicial system?

3. What is your top priority for your next term? Be specific, please.

4. There have been complaints about the size of fines levied for parking violations in Town. Do you believe they are fair and equitable?

I take the most pride in having devoted myself to being fair and impartial, deciding contest issues based on a proper interpretation of the law without bias or prejudice. In addition, I was instrumental in the conversion of one of our two courtrooms so as to comply with the Americans With Disabilities Act, one of the few courtrooms to so comply.
I firmly believe that the East Hampton Town Justice Court is among the finest in Suffolk County. We have an excellent, experienced staff. What we can continue to do is stay up to date with changes in the law and operate in a fashion that is fair and respectful to all who appear in our Court.
My priority is always the same: To be the best Town Justice that I can be. That requires treating every case on its own merits, ensuring that any decision I make is based the law and the most recent reported cases, if any, with respect to such law and rendering a judgment that is free from bias or prejudice.
Whatever the stated fines might be, my experience has been with both Village and Town parking violations that defendants who contest their fines are almost always offered a significantly reduced fine by the respective prosecutor, and occasionally the tickets are dismissed where appropriate.
