Many concerns I've heard can be explained by sharing current district policy, state, and federal laws and ensuring that people understand the role of the school board. Clear, concise communication that describes policy and laws could reduce misunderstandings and build trust. The role of a board member is best described by the Ohio School Board Association which states, "The role and function of board members often are misinterpreted by the public. The board is a policymaking body, and members are the chief advisers to the superintendent on community attitudes. Board members do not manage the day-to-day operations of a school district; they see to it that the the system is managed well by professional administrators.
Promoting student success by defining a clear vision and goals for the district, maintaining financial accountability, and enlisting community members to ensure that decisions reflect public values are among my top priorities. As a board member I must understand the fiduciary duties to the community, as taxpayers and balance that with the duty to ensure students are prepared to achieve their life goals. I am responsible for building community trust by being openness, and recognize my role in governance by avoiding micromanagement of the district's day-to-day operations.
The school board advises the superintendent on community sentiments and acts as the district's governing team and policymaking body.

The board employs and evaluates the superintendent and treasurer, collaborating closely with administrators to develop policy, vision, and long-term objectives. The board takes responsibility for new opportunities, works with community partners, and ensures fiscal stability. Board members are required to conduct business through public meetings and are not allowed to act autonomously. The board listens to the public and considers their opinions, concerns, and celebrates the successes of the district, its staff, and especially its students.
The number one way to engage with residents and the community is to listen. Actively listening, without preconceived ideas or judgments, builds trust and relationships. Listening opportunities happen at community events, at board meetings, and when shopping at local businesses. Additionally, the board can gather input through specially planned events or through surveys that collect feedback. Events could include open houses, informational sessions, public forums, or fun events such as festivals or block parties.
Consensus-building begins with the team agreeing on how they will operate to listen to all voices. Next, the participants agree on a problem definition, share information about the issue and how it impacts parts of the whole district, and provide background information, current data, and future trends. After understanding the problem and deciding on team rules, they generate possible solutions and evaluate them using pre-determined criteria. The next stage involves seeking agreement on the solution and strategies. Those who oppose the solution or strategy can suggest ways to make them stronger. Two key points regarding consensus building include listening to all voices and monitoring the progress of the solution through regular updates.

Qualifications for Office I am a Groveport Madison parent, youth coach, and graduate of Auburn University at Montgomery with a degree in Business Administration. My life has been dedicated to serving people, from mentoring kids on the court to supporting families in our community. I understand the sacrifices parents make, the challenges teachers face, and the potential our students hold.
Our biggest challenges are outdated facilities and the need to raise academic success while keeping schools safe. Families deserve modern, secure buildings, but solutions must come through honest conversations and community buy-in. At the same time, too many classrooms are disrupted by behavior that steals learning time. I will work to build a culture of excellence with clear expectations, added support for teachers through aides or volunteers, and leadership that reflects our students. Every child deserves a safe, respectful, and focused learning environment.
My top priorities are empowering parents to advocate for their children, protecting public education, ensuring leadership reflects our students, focusing on student-first decisions, and restoring cultural exposure through field trips and hands-on learning. Financing these priorities requires transparency, creativity, and community buy-in. I will pursue state and grant funding, build partnerships, and make responsible use of district resources. Progress must be achieved together, with families and the community helping to shape the investments we make in our children’s future.
School board members set policy, oversee budgets, and hold the district accountable for delivering quality education. The role is about putting students first, supporting teachers, and listening to families. I am the best candidate because I bring professional expertise, the perspective of a public school graduate, and the lived experience of both a parent and a coach. I know how to lead, manage resources responsibly, and fight for what is right. I will strengthen trust between schools and families and make sure every child has the opportunity to thrive.
I plan to engage by being present and accessible. That means truly listening, showing up at school activities, and being present at community events where families, students, and teachers gather. I believe leadership starts with listening first, then acting on what you’ve heard, and by leading by example. I will also use surveys, forums, and consistent communication to make sure a wide range of voices are included. My commitment is that every resident feels seen, heard, and represented in the decisions I make on the school board.
My approach to building consensus starts with listening and asking thoughtful questions. I believe respect is the foundation of progress. Disagreements are natural, but they must be constructive. If I expect others to consider my perspective, I must also be willing to consider theirs. I focus on finding common ground, being clear and honest about differences, and when necessary, agreeing to disagree while keeping the focus on what is best for students and the community.

Qualifications for Office As an actively involved parent with two young children currently enrolled in the district, I bring a deeply personal investment in the future of our schools. I am one of the founding members of the Dunloe Elementary School PTA, serve as a chair on the district's Parental Advisory Committee, and am a member of the district's Safety Committee.
One of the most significant challenges facing our community is the lack of trust in the current school board, driven by concerns about transparency and accountability. To rebuild trust, we must commit to open, honest communication and make information readily accessibly to the public. I would also advocate for a thorough review of district finances and operations to ensure funds are used wisely and that all employees are fulfilling their job duties and responsibilities. Trust is earn through action, and that begins with accountability, transparency, and responsible stewardship.
A top priority for my term is addressing overcrowding in our school buildings to ensure student and staff safety. This must begin with a fully vetted, long-term facilities plan rooted in thorough research and proper due diligence. We need to secure competitive pricing through multiple bids and explore creative funding options, including government grants and available state or federal programs. Just as importantly, we must involve the community in the planning process to ensure their ideas and visions are reflected in the solutions we pursue.
The role of a board member is to follow and enforce district policy, oversee the superintendent, help shape the district's vision, and ensure effective operation of our schools. Key responsibilities include reviewing and approving budgets with fiscal responsibility - such as not approving raises before contracts are due to expire. I am committed to making independent, informed decisions - not rubber-stamping proposals. I'm not afraid to speak up, hold others or myself accountable, and say no when necessary. Our community deserves a board member who listens and acts in the best interest of our students, schools, and tax payers.
Community involvement is essential to making informed, effective decisions. I believe in creating real opportunities for residents to be heard - not just during meetings, but through regular open forums, surveys, and direct outreach. I want every community member to feel welcome and empowered to speak without fear of backlash. We must do more to engage the public by planning meetings that are accessible and encouraging broader participation. I got involved because I saw things that needed to change - and I am believer that real change starts by working with the people, not just for them.
To resolve disagreements and build consensus, we need open, honest communication and full transparency, I believe in clearly explaining all options, including their pros and cons, so decisions are based on facts - not personal agendas. I'm an open book and always willing to listen to new perspectives that can lead to better solutions. The current board struggles because too often decisions are made behind closed doors or for personal reasons. I'm committed to changing that by fostering a culture of openness, respect, and collaboration that truly serves our students and community.
