Economic development and righting the ethical ship of government. The 1st involves greater effort at creating a more physically pleasing environment to attract businesses along with having a competent and successful director of economic development. We must make Whitehall a community businesses would be proud to be a part of. Civic pride has great importance in that success and while Whitehall is taking steps in that direction, more can be done. The 2nd involves greater citizen involvement, demanding candidates who heed ethical principles above self-interests and creating legislative means to permanently break any familial stranglehold which has a negative effect on our community
Doing exactly as I have in my first term; introduce legislation for the community when found right to do so, ask pertinent, probing questions whenever appropriate, use the legislative branch's power of oversight to hold the Executive branch accountable, remain fiscally conservative and socially liberal, vote yes or no when the citizens/I find it right to do so, continue fighting for the people's voices, money and interests, play devil's advocate for THEM above all else, maintain my integrity, inform the citizens of what is going on as much as possible, exercise fairness in my deliberations. The only cost of all this is my salary of $6200 per year.
People don't like change and yet, as long as babies are born, they need to be clothed, housed and fed. Whitehall, like other communities, has been bringing in more housing to accommodate this growing need and yet, while Whitehall will have to adjust to this eventuality, I do believe council and the people have a right to pass judgement on projects as they are proposed and give either their blessings or rejections. That is the community's right. As this happens, the infrastructure needs will grow which will have to be addressed by strong, smart, innovative leaders. It is not for the weak and so boldness will have to be Whitehall's byword if it is to survive and succeed.
As I have for the last 4 years, through council meetings, social media and occasional meetings set up with the community to talk and share thoughts and ideas.
I am dedicated to the truth and like people and honestly believe in their better natures. I believe they want honesty, ethical principles, and a fair shake. I continue to want a better community for my hometown of Whitehall, through its government and its community. We are all here with a common purpose and while we may disagree on this or that point, we CAN find commonality and use collaboration for the greater success of us all. Its an age old recipe for bringing people together. I am a Democrat and while I have differences with Republicans, I'm proud of the fact that I have many supporters from both parties. It is a testament to that very ideal I've spelled out here and eminently worthy of voter's consideration.
