Qualifications for Office
Ethical finance professional with extensive experience in municipal budgets. Well-versed in funding various large-scale capital projects. Understands federal and state legislation and its impact on local governments. Brings new ideas to help position the city to excel financially. Possesses thorough understanding of city’s fiscal needs and resources in role as Finance Committee Chairman on council
The main challenges facing our community that fall under the purview of City Council include the need to invest in several major capital infrastructure projects while maintaining essential services and ensuring long-term economic vitality amidst the uncertainty caused by shifting federal and state policies. With nearly two decades of public finance capital markets experience and three terms of service on city council, I understand how to responsibly finance large-scale projects that strengthen our future. I will continue to advocate for disciplined, transparent planning while working with partners at every level of government to ensure our community remains resilient despite policy changes.
My top priority in the next term on City Council is maintaining high-quality core services such as public safety, infrastructure upkeep, and community programs, while also addressing residents’ demands for major capital projects that enhance our quality of life. Drawing on nearly two decades of employment in municipal finance in the private sector, and ten of my 12 years on city council service as chairman of the finance committee, I have the expertise to identify financing approaches that are both affordable and sustainable. I will pursue responsible strategies including leveraging reserves, partnerships, and market financing, to ensure we meet today’s needs while investing wisely in projects that strengthen our community’s future.
Our community is largely built out and, given our size, cannot solve the region’s housing challenges alone. However, we must adapt to the realities of the region’s rapid growth. Infrastructure pressures on roads, utilities, and public services, are real and require careful, long-term planning. My focus is on maintaining the high quality of life our residents expect by investing in resilient infrastructure, encouraging smart redevelopment where appropriate, and working collaboratively with Central Ohio partners to address the challenges facing the region.
As a 20-year Gahanna resident and three-term incumbent, I have deep connections to our community through service and relationships. I have gone door-to-door in Ward 2 several times, listening to residents on their doorsteps to understand what matters most. I’ve volunteered with local organizations and have coached in youth sports, providing me another perspective on families’ needs. I will continue to advocate for transparency and resident awareness by supporting video records of City Council meetings, as well as supporting town halls and open houses for community planning activities and major projects impacting the community.
As an unaffiliated candidate seeking a nonpartisan office, my focus is on practical solutions that serve our community, not party agendas. I approach problems by listening carefully, respecting different perspectives, and finding common ground rooted in shared community values. My experience has shown that open communication and transparency build trust, even when views differ. I believe that a sound process that incorporates collaboration through dialogue, data-driven analysis, and a commitment to civility is the best path to building consensus that benefits all residents.
