An important qualification for the next Town Clerk is a thorough understanding of technology, online applications, and digital records management. With over twenty years of technology consulting, IT management, and database administration experience, I am uniquely qualified to support the Town’s continued efforts at modernizing government.

While a technology background is essential for furthering the modernization of Town government, what is equally important is a collaborative spirit. That means reaching out and seeking input from the residents of Town, working with departments within the Town, and collaborating with the Town Board.
I will expand the payment options to include credit cards at the counter of the Town Clerk and online. I will enhance the online presence by employing online registration tools so that residents can, for example, register for their Recycle and Disposal permit from the comfort of their home computer.

I will enhance the Town Clerk’s webpages by posting updates that come to the office, editing content for a more mobile-friendly online experience, and improving the site’s navigation.
I will create a Town Clerk newsletter so that I can email updates that come to the Clerk’s office, as well as alert residents of coming deadlines. I will also optimize the number one communication tool at our disposal, the website, to post updates and alerts regularly. And another effective communication tool in this day and age is social media.

I will also be open and responsive to two-way dialogue with the residents of the Town and respond swiftly by email or phone.
The space at Town Hall is tight and I propose that a simple, secure, and conditioned space be built to house the physical and digital records of 237 years of history. There is room at the Town Hall campus to have such a building and it will provide better security and protection. I am aware that very old documents are stored at the East Hampton Library.

In terms of meeting the legal requirements of FOIL, I feel the Town records are accessible, but exploring ways to make things more accessible to the public is on my agenda.
