For the past sixteen years I have served District 4 on the Florence City School Board. In those years the Board has had to handle proration, school consolidation and a global pandemic which caused many issues for our schools.
The district already has programs in place to increase both math and reading scores. As of out last report we are doing surprising well raising scores for the elementary aged students we serve.
Special education and how it is funded will always be an issue for our system. We have a large number of students with special needs and do not have room or resources for them at times.
Having in place events and classes that teach our students about how to be a good citizen and take care of those around us in our community that have needs we can help with.
