Help us understand what type of leader you would be by describing your two highest priorities for change in our city — for both the short and long term.
Addressing the issue of affordable housing, what measures would you support to ensure that our city remains accessible to residents of all income levels?
What is your plan for managing the City's rapid growth while preserving its open spaces and rural character?
How do you plan to coordinate with neighboring cities, county officials, and UTA to address regional challenges?
What does a sustainable future for our city look like? As an elected official, what actions will you undertake or support to ensure our city reaches this vision?

I am a genuine leader who cares for all those I work with. I am firm on issues when needed but tend to give everyone the benefit of the doubt. When tough conversations need to happen I am experienced with navigating those with minimal drama. I love to work with people and let them use their strengths to better the city in whatever ways they can.
My highest priorities will be to continue the great momentum that we have made to keep Mapleton residents tight knit while accepting those who move in. Growth is a big challenge, and I feel like I have the personality to unify all citizens. I plan to be forward thinking when it comes to all aspects of our future as a city but will prioritize things like public safety and living within our means.
We have already made significant efforts and changes to policies, ADU ordinances, and strategies that will and have already provided for more affordable housing in Mapleton. I plan to continue to work towards creative solutions and tweaks to our ordinances to continue progress towards affordable housing but not compromise on the quality of life for all residents.
I have already been a champion for Mapleton's open space. I was a key player in the General Plan update that significantly places more conservative pressure on lessening high density housing while protecting landowners rights to sell. I plan to continue to lead with a pump-the-brakes perspective on development and minimize un-needed density. I've voted only on things that preserve our open fields and spaces throughout town, and I will continue to champion that cause. I was raised on a ranch and chose Mapleton specifically because of the farm/ranch style feel here. I hope to do all I can to preserve that as much as possible.
I already have relationships built with Springville staff and elected officials. We meet periodically and discuss ways we can work together. I've already begun planting seeds to hopefully someday work out a deal with both cities on fair agreements for shared use of assets that all residents can benefit from while protecting taxpayers and stakeholders. I am the type of leader that excels at building relationships that foster cooperation and plan to continue using that to build better working relationships with both cities as well as UTA. More options for public transportation out here to Mapleton are needed.
I believe it is crucial for Mayors to be forward thinking and to plan for the long term, not just the short-term future. I plan to work with our leadership, our staff, committees, and neighboring city partners to plan for unique projects and infrastructure that will enable us to become a thriving town that doesn't have a lot of debt but still preserve our community feel.
