I’m running for City Council —because I believe this is a critical moment for our Valley. We have a chance to do things right. To preserve what makes this place special, and plan wisely for what’s ahead. Here’s what I believe:
Living in this Valley is a gift, and with that comes responsibility.
Your rights as current residents and property owners should come before outside development interests.
We need to follow our Ogden Valley General Plan—it’s a good one. It protects our farmland, our rural character, and it balances growth with values.
Many of our current issues are because basic tenets of the General Plan have been completely ignored
Fiscal responsibility and common-sense solutions matter, especially when we’re starting fresh.
1. Growth & Land Use Planning - The top concern I hear from residents—across all generations and political lines—is growth. Not just that growth is happening, but how it’s happening. Growth should happen with the community, not at the community’s expense. I will fight for the immediate updating, adoption, and enforcement of the Ogden Valley General Plan. The heart of the general plan remains strong, centered on protecting our land, water, and way of life. 2. Water & Infrastructure - Utah is one of the driest states in the Nation. Growth means very little without the infrastructure to support it, and water is at the heart of that conversation. I will fight to ensure that existing homes and agricultural users are protected, and that new development is only approved if it comes with a proven water letter. 3. Transparency - I’ll champion open, honest government with citizen-led committees—because transparency isn’t optional, it’s essential.
With over forty years in Ogden Valley, I’m deeply rooted in this community. I’m not a politician—I’m a listener, a neighbor, and someone who shows up. I helped launch the grassroots RAMP initiative to fund recreation, arts, and parks in Weber County because I believed in investing in our future. I serve on the Ogden Valley Land Trust Board to help protect open space and natural resources. I was actively involved in the effort to incorporate. My career as a manufacturer’s rep has taught me to lead by listening. Traveling to resort towns, I’ve seen firsthand the consequences of poor planning—and heard the regrets that come with it. I believe in this Valley and in our ability to protect what matters while building a future we’re proud of.
Healthy growth doesn’t come at the expense of those who live here—it protects what we love while planning wisely for the future. It values community, water, agriculture, open space, residential neighborhoods, rural roads, property rights, and quality of life. I’ll fight to enforce and update the Ogden Valley General Plan to guide growth that serves residents, not just developers. No project should move forward without proven water access, infrastructure to support it, and real benefit to the community. I support impact assessments, responsible zoning, and citizen-led committees to ensure your voice drives decisions. We only get one chance to get this right—and I’m committed to growth that’s sustainable and true to the heart of this Valley.
Utah is one of the driest states in the Nation. Water is our most critical resource, and protecting it starts with wise planning, communication and coordination. I will fight to require verified water will-serve letters before any development is approved—no exceptions. We must prioritize existing homes, agriculture, and current water rights over new development. We need to support our water districts. I support a water liaison focused on communication with all local water districts, their needs, and protecting our aquifers. I’ll also push for strong safeguards against contamination to keep our water clean and safe. Ensuring water security isn't optional—it's essential to protecting the future of Ogden Valley.
I am running because I care deeply about Ogden Valley. I have spent years working on public policy, helping bring people together to find real solutions. This is a critical moment in our Valley’s future, and I want to make sure decisions are made with honesty, transparency, and respect for both residents and the land. I am motivated by my love for this community, my experience in solving tough problems, and my belief that every voice should be heard.
1. Responsible land use — thoughtful planning, not overreach, Preserve our rural character — growth without sacrificing what we love
Implement strong land use code. Enforcement of the code. Keep three acre minimums, Encourage the use of Villages to ensure more open space and rural living.
2. Water stewardship — protect and manage our precious resource
First and foremost learn the facts about our water situation. Currently the studies are conflicting. And water companies ought to be making decisions on accurate information.
After accurate data, consider leaving water companies individual and create a city water advisory committee with one representative from each company.
3. Maintain essential services — without increasing costs
Look for alternative ongoing revenue streams to fund essential services, encourage reasonable business growth.

Healthy growth means preserving what makes our community special while planning wisely for the future. It includes:
Protecting our rural character and open spaces
Ensuring infrastructure (like roads, water, and emergency services) keeps up with growth
Respecting private property rights
Encouraging responsible development that aligns with our General Plan
Avoiding debt-heavy decisions that burden taxpayers
To steer the city in that direction, I will:
Use real data to guide decisions, not emotion or pressure
Prioritize transparency so the public understands what is happening and why
Work with both residents and developers to find balanced solutions
Support growth that strengthens our economy without compromising our values
Water is one of Ogden Valley’s most critical issues. Growth must not outpace our water supply. I will push for transparent data, link land use decisions to actual water availability, and ensure conservation practices are enforced. Water quality must also be protected through stronger protections around wells, Pineview, and septic systems. Many residents feel shut out of water decisions. I will demand open meetings, honest communication, and a seat at the table for the public. We all deserve a voice.
