Children come first in my calculus, I prioritize those who inherit our decisions. Safety matters. Commitment to our top notch Police and Fire must include resources necessary to effectively address the persistence of substance abuse, theft, and mental health issues. Compassionate yet unwavering standards of public safety elevate us all. Neighborhoods matter. Civic pride and involvement begins on your street. The needs of our neighborhoods should shape city policy and zoning decisions. To sink roots in Marysville soil, our high school graduates should have the real possibility of a job, home and voice in our community. Money Matters. Planning for growth means more than new construction—it’s about creating the conditions for families, young adults, and seniors to thrive without being priced out of their homes. I would leave property taxes alone, model transparency and encourage wise investments to support a balanced budget without drawing on yours.
Before approving spending, I would ask: Will it improve quality of life with neighborhood equity and inclusion? Will it maximize the impact of taxpayer dollars with long-term cost savings, transparent practices, and budget stability? Will it strengthen the local economy by ensuring residents can shop, eat, play, work, and access services without a long commute—broadening the tax base and reducing reliance on residential property taxes?
We don’t need to reinvent Marysville’s vision—we need to follow through with smart, community-driven leadership and the values already reflected in our Comprehensive Plan. Equitable Housing I’ll support zoning and development that creates affordable, mixed-use housing for diverse families. Sustainable Infrastructure I back safer streets, better transit, and reduced traffic through walkable, connected planning. Green Space and Resilience I’ll protect open space, expand tree coverage, and invest in climate-smart infrastructure. Community Engagement I’ll improve digital tools and outreach so all residents can easily access and shape city decisions. Economic Opportunity I support job growth through balanced industrial development that respects neighborhoods. I believe Marysville should be run with a focus on equity, sustainability, and community voice- I’ll support plans that translate into action serving common goals.
To support a vibrant economy in Marysville, I will: Champion mentorship and support for small and emerging businesses

Integrate industrial growth with neighborhood well-being

Promote balanced development from Smokey Point to Ebey Waterfront

Invest in future-ready infrastructure and transit

Expand workforce training and youth career pathways

Encourage diverse, resilient economic sectors

Lead with inclusion and transparency

Marysville has the foundation for strong, community-driven growth. We need continued leadership that brings the pieces together—with care, clarity, and purpose.
Marysville has taken meaningful steps toward inclusion, like the 2023 neighborhood meetings that gave residents a voice in city planning and the inclusive playground coming to Jennings Memorial Park. These are strong examples we should continue and expand.

I propose assigning each City Council member to a specific neighborhood district, alongside their committee roles. This would ensure every neighborhood has a dedicated advocate who understands its unique needs. We must also prioritize livable, affordable housing and infrastructure that serves residents at all income levels.

I support an annual self-audit of our advisory boards—tracking representation by neighborhood, gender, ethnicity, age, and more—to help guide efforts toward more inclusive leadership.

Finally, I recommend creating a City Youth Council to engage young residents in civic life and help develop Marysville’s next generation of leaders.
