Town where you live
Friday Harbor
Experience (300 characters max)
Over 30 years of leadership and management in senior living and beyond.
Over the past 30 years, I’ve taken on leadership roles across a wide range of organizations in both the public and private sectors. I bring deep experience managing complex operations and overseeing multimillion-dollar budgets ranging from $12 to $16 million. As a business owner, I’ve successfully navigated the challenges of entrepreneurship and innovation. Currently, I serve as Deputy Superintendent and Executive Director of Home Care Services for San Juan County Public Hospital District #1, where I lead essential healthcare operations that serve some of our most vulnerable residents—work that requires not only administrative expertise, but also compassion, accountability, and forward-thinking leadership.
In addition to my professional work, I’ve remained deeply committed to community service. I serve as President of the Cannery Village HOA, President of the San Juan Islands Healthcare Foundation, Vice President of the San Juan Island Food Co-op, and as a member-at-large on several o
I have built my life and career around public service—bringing people together to solve complex challenges, expand access to essential services, and foster a community where everyone has the opportunity to thrive. Now, I am running for Mayor of Friday Harbor to continue that work on behalf of the people who live and work here.
With over three decades of leadership experience in senior living and healthcare, I currently serves as Deputy Superintendent of San Juan County Public Hospital District No. 1. In that role, I have led the successful integration of Village at the Harbor into the Hospital District—an initiative that improved wages and benefits for staff and created five Medicaid beds for low-income residents. I have also launched Village at Home, a program that helps island seniors age in place, reducing the need for relocation to off-island care facilities.
I decided to run for mayor of Friday Harbor because I believe we’re at a turning point—and this town, this community, matters deeply to me. I’ve spent years working on the front lines of healthcare and community service, listening to the people who live here, and seeing firsthand the challenges we face: the rising cost of living, the lack of affordable housing, the pressure on small businesses, and the need to modernize our infrastructure without losing what makes this place special.
I’m not running to climb a political ladder—I’m running because I care about this town and the people in it. I believe that local government should be responsive, transparent, and focused on practical solutions. I’ve built a career out of bringing people together, managing resources responsibly, and turning ideas into real outcomes. Now, I want to bring that same energy and leadership to Town Hall.
This community has given me a lot. Running for mayor is my way of giving back.
Affordable housing is one of the most urgent challenges facing our town—affecting working families, essential employees, seniors, and local businesses alike.
Improving Our Infrastructure
Our town’s infrastructure is the foundation that supports daily life and future growth. From safe sidewalks to modern utilities, we need systems that meet today’s needs while preparing for tomorrow’s opportunities.
Economic Development
A resilient local economy is essential to maintaining the quality of life, services, and community spirit that define Friday Harbor. Supporting our existing small businesses—and creating an environment where new, locally rooted ventures can grow—must be central to our economic strategy.
Affordable Housing- I’ve spoken directly with developers frustrated by permit delays, and with town officials constrained by infrastructure gaps and outdated elements of our comprehensive plan. The message is clear: we need a smarter, more collaborative approach. One that brings together residents, developers, and local leaders to craft solutions that are practical, balanced, and forward-thinking
Infrastructure- Friday Harbor’s charm lies in its close-knit community. But to thrive, we must invest in infrastructure that improves pedestrian safety, enhances walkability, and supports aging commercial buildings. By focusing on thoughtful, well-planned upgrades, we can make Friday Harbor safer, more accessible, and more supportive of local businesses—without losing the character that makes it so special.
Economic Development- we need to expand opportunities for stable, year-round employment that reflects our island’s values and safeguards its unique identity.
