Town where you live Sumner
I plan to be available via email, phone, and in person at Sumner events as much as possible. I hope citizens would feel comfortable speaking directly to me before or after meetings or anywhere they see me out in Sumner.
Environmental issues are of the utmost importance in our city. The city’s role should be to be to set the example for environmentally-friendly practices and also take steps to encourage citizens to incorporate environmentally-sound practices in their own lives.
I am currently serving on the Planning Commission for the City of Sumner. I also consider my job public service as I am serving in the role of appointed counsel for eviction defense.
At this point, we are making investments into building more housing and preserving housing that is at risk of disappearing. Homelessness is of course a structural problem with no easy answer. The cost of housing has increased beyond many folks’ budgets. I think that supporting more housing being built is one solution and I think the city should explore other avenues to potentially rezone areas that could provide even more space for more housing. In the short term, I think connecting and collaborating with agencies and organizations like the one I work for would provide much needed services to folks experiencing homelessness. It’s not the solution to the whole problem, but any help is still help, regardless.
My vision for the City of Sumner is a place where collaboration between government, businesses and residents proves fruitful for everyone. Sumner has big plans on the horizon and has taken enormous steps to become one of the most sought-after places to live in Washington. My vision would be a city that had some sustainable community gardens, even more small businesses, plenty of community events and support for folks who need it. My vision for Sumner would be a city where everyone has what they need and every resident thrives.
