The City Council is the legislative body for the City. The Council adopts local laws (ordinances) to secure the safety and assist the well-being of the city residents, the city s physical environment and amenities, and the city economy. The Council is responsible for approving financial expenditures and adopting the city budget as well as establishing policies and regulations in order to guide the city s future. The elected mayor serves as chief administrative officer for the city.

Listening to all citizens in groups, one on one, at work, in the community, or larger groups. I walk my dog every night and talk to the community and see people at stores and talk about our community. It is easy for me to interact with every one and I listen to them with an open mind.
This is an important and complex issue that up till now I haven't spent much time on. But I do recognize it is important for a city council member to find balance between the needs of people and nature and I am open to exploring this issue.
I read this question and thought this answer would be short. But after thinking about it I helped with Grid Kids when my son started at ten years old. Then onto Morgan football and wrestling and eventually on to EHS football and helped with any program where they needed someone to fill a hole. Now that my youngest son is off to college I have more time to contribute more to the community.
I have a very strong feeling about this subject. I believe we need to help our local homeless during the harsher months with a cold weather shelter and that Ellensburg should have plans in place to help our local homeless succeed in life. But with our limited resources, we should not blindly start programs that waste tax money and draw homeless here from other areas.
I moved my family here in 1996, I remember doing all our shopping here. I would like Ellensburg to return to having a thriving downtown business community where folks don't have to drive to Yakima or the West Side.
