Experience (300 characters max) I’m a civil litigation and employment attorney, the five-term president of the Harborview Medical Center Board of Trustees, and a founding board member of the MultiCare South King Health Foundation. I’ve also led oversight of a $1.7 billion public hospital system.
I’ve spent my career building coalitions to solve tough problems. I’m a civil litigation and employment attorney, the five-term president of the Harborview Medical Center Board of Trustees, and a founding board member of the MultiCare South King Health Foundation. I’ve led oversight of a $1.7 billion public hospital system, advocated for workers and small businesses, and worked to expand access to care for underserved communities. As a working mom and community volunteer, I understand how policy impacts daily life—and I bring the leadership, accountability, and results our region needs.
Safe, thriving communities – I’ll champion coordinated public safety strategies that include fully staffed first responders, co-responder and crisis response programs, and upstream investments in behavioral health and youth violence prevention.

Housing and affordability – I’ll push for smart land use reforms, targeted public investment, and better service coordination to keep people housed, prevent displacement, and make our region more affordable.

Equitable healthcare access – I’ll advocate for strengthening behavioral health services - including integration of behavioral health services into the continuum of primary care, increased access to culturally competent care, and protecting access to reproductive and gender-affirming care—especially in communities that have historically been underserved.
We must plan for growth in a way that protects our environment and strengthens our communities. That means encouraging sustainable development near transit, investing in green infrastructure, and holding developers to high environmental standards. I support zoning reforms that increase housing options in already urbanized areas while preserving critical natural areas like forests, farmlands, and waterways. With thoughtful and flexible policy planning, we can align land use, housing, and transit goals—ensuring that as our region grows, we create connected, livable communities while safeguarding environmental resilience.
Every community in King County deserves to be heard and served. That starts with listening—to youth, elders, workers, small business owners, and others whose voices are too often overlooked. I’ll lead with transparency, support community-driven solutions, and work to ensure areas like South King County receive the attention and investment they need. My approach is rooted in collaboration, accountability, and trust—because that’s how we build lasting, meaningful progress across a diverse region.

Experience (300 characters max) SeaTac City Councilmember since 2016 and Deputy Mayor,Peter Kwon led efforts on environmental preservation, affordable housing, public safety, and early childhood care.He turned a budget deficit into a surplus without raising taxes and champions inclusive, equitable policies for diverse communities.
Serving on the SeaTac City Council since 2016, including as Deputy Mayor, I’ve tackled key issues like public safety, housing, transportation, and economic development. I’ve worked across jurisdictions to secure funding for infrastructure, boost human services, and improve government transparency.

I helped turn a budget deficit into a surplus without raising taxes, supported creation of 4,000+ affordable housing units, and expanded early childhood care by training and licensing 21 new home child care businesses—with 10 more coming. This supports working families and single mothers needing safe, local, affordable care.

My record shows I lead collaboratively, work with diverse communities, and move policy from idea to impact—preparing me well for King County Council.
1. Public Safety I’ll support adequate police staffing, expand community-based safety programs, and invest in mental health and addiction services to prevent crime and reduce repeat offenses.

2. Housing & Homelessness We must increase affordable and workforce housing while investing in early intervention. I helped bring 4,000+ new housing units to SeaTac and will take that experience to the county level.

3. Transportation Access I support improving transit options, road maintenance, and reducing fares—especially for working families and essential workers—to ensure transportation isn’t a barrier to opportunity.

These priorities reflect my focus on practical, community-first solutions that improve quality of life for all King County residents.
I believe we can balance growth with protecting our natural resources. As a SeaTac Councilmember, I successfully fought the airport’s plan to cut down nearly 3,000 trees and am leading efforts for the city to acquire North SeaTac Park to preserve it as public green space in perpetuity. I also spearheaded expanding public park space by securing surplus land from the WSDOT SR 509 project.

I’ve supported smart growth policies that focus development near transit while preserving open space and requiring sustainable design. At the county level, I’ll continue to champion green infrastructure, environmental protections, and long-term planning that allows us to grow responsibly while protecting clean air, water, and green spaces for future generations.
I believe balancing the needs of diverse communities requires listening deeply and engaging respectfully with all voices—especially those historically underrepresented. My approach centers on inclusive, transparent decision-making that ensures equity in access to resources and opportunities across the county.

I’ve worked collaboratively on the SeaTac City Council to address disparities in housing, public safety, and early childhood care by partnering with community organizations, local leaders, and residents. I prioritize data-driven solutions that recognize unique community challenges while fostering unity through shared goals.

My commitment is to ensure every community—regardless of background or income—has a seat at the table and benefits from county policies that promote fairness, opportunity, and quality of life for all.

Experience (300 characters max) Former child refugee from Vietnam. I am currently a Renton City Councilmember, Attorney, Scouts mom, Rotarian, and Kiwanian,
As a Renton City Councilmember, attorney, and mother, I’ve spent my life fighting for safe, healthy, and equitable communities. I came to this country as a refugee and was raised in a working-class family in South King County. Those early experiences taught me resilience, compassion, and the importance of public service. On the Renton City Council, I led efforts to invest in public safety, expand youth and senior services, and support small businesses during the pandemic. I pushed for greater transparency, community engagement, and equitable access to city resources. My legal work has focused on protecting civil rights, empowering immigrants, and holding powerful institutions accountable. I know how the government can be a force for good when it listens to the people it serves. I'm ready to bring my lived experience and record of results to the County Council to deliver real progress for our communities.
Safe and Healthy Communities: We need safe streets, reliable emergency services, and alternatives like mental health support and crisis response teams. Real safety means prevention, protection, and care. I’ll prioritize hiring and supporting deputy sheriffs, investing in crisis centers and mental health navigators, and advancing climate resilience by implementing King County’s Strategic Climate Action Plan (SCAP), addressing PFAS contamination, and expanding access to green spaces. Opportunity for All: Everyone deserves a fair shot. I’ll champion job training, small business support, and inclusive zoning to expand affordable housing. By investing in education, housing, and economic equity, we can build a stronger economy that lifts everyone. Transparency and Co-Governance: Government must be open and responsive. I’ll host regular town halls, share clear budget info, and partner with community and labor leaders to ensure people have a real voice in decisions that affect them.
We can and must grow responsibly. Development and environmental protection are not mutually exclusive. As someone who grew up in South King County, I know how vital clean air, water, and green space are to public health, safety, and quality of life. I support smart, equitable development that includes affordable housing, walkable communities, and transit access, while enforcing strong environmental protections. I will prioritize climate resiliency, invest in green infrastructure, and make sure communities most impacted by pollution are centered in decision-making. Sustainable growth must serve both people and the planet.
I believe in governing with equity, transparency, and collaboration. Every community in King County has unique strengths and needs, and effective leadership means listening, building trust, and responding with policies rooted in lived experience. As a Renton City Councilmember, I’ve worked alongside diverse communities to expand access to essential services. I’ll prioritize inclusive outreach and co-governance with community and labor leaders. My approach centers around those historically left out, ensuring county policies reflect and serve the full range of voices across our region.
