GRANITE FALLS SCHOOL DISTRICT NO. 332 Director District 4

No Salary, some districts offer small per diem for evening meetings. School Board Members are the elected governing body of the school district, with responsibilities that fall in four major areas: Vision – focuses the work on student achievement through a comprehensive strategic planning process; Structure – provides prudent financial planning and oversight as well as diligent and innovative policymaking; Accountability – sets specific goals and a process for evaluation, reporting and recommendations for improvements; and Advocacy – champions public education in the local community and before state and federal policy makers. The School Board sets the general policies of the district.

My top priority is ensuring every student is prepared to become an independently successful member of their community. This includes expanding access to high-quality instruction, career-connected learning, and student-centered support. I will advocate for policies that remove barriers, reflect community voice, and promote equity for all students - regardless of background, ability, or language. I am equally committed to supporting the educators and staff who make student success possible by promoting professional growth, respectful collaboration, and well-resourced schools. As a mother of three young adults, I see K–12 education as a vital steppingstone to a student’s future, and every decision I make will center both student outcomes and the well-being of the dedicated professionals who serve them.
Trust is promoted between schools and parents by decision-makers being present, approachable, and committed to two-way communication. Trust is built through listening, transparency, and consistent follow-through. I will advocate for regular opportunities for families to share feedback, ask questions, and help shape district priorities. By attending school and community events, hosting listening sessions, and elevating parent voice in decision-making, I’ll help grow a school culture where families are heard, respected, and valued as partners. When schools and families work together, students thrive; and that shared trust is the foundation for strong, successful schools.
Managing funding cuts requires transparency, collaboration, and a focus on student needs. I will work closely with families, staff, and community partners to protect what matters most, student learning, safety, and both student and staff support. I have led schools during staff reductions and cuts to funding, and I appreciate the very personal impact financial decisions have on people’s lives. I believe in clear, transparent communication about decisions, exploring alternative funding sources, and advocating at the state level for more equitable school funding. I have successfully advocated for funding changes for institutionalized youth which resulted in increased funding opportunities. My approach would center equity, ensuring cuts don’t disproportionately affect our most vulnerable students, while working toward long-term, sustainable solutions.
School boards should respond to community concerns with openness, respect, and a commitment to meaningful education that prepares students to be independent and successful members of society. Listening to diverse perspectives is essential, and decisions must be grounded in educational best practices, student well-being, and legal standards. I believe schools should offer age-appropriate, accurate, and relevant content that reflects the diversity of our communities and prepares students to thrive in a complex world. By listening to the community, providing transparency, and centering student learning, we can ensure our education reflects all of these aspects while equipping students with the knowledge they need to be successful.
I am committed to improving educational outcomes for all children by expanding access to meaningful, opportunity-rich learning that prepares students for success in both school and life. This includes championing high-quality instruction, career-connected pathways, and programs that foster academic growth, creativity, and real-world skills. I will work to ensure every student can discover their strengths and pursue their passions in ways that connect to future opportunities. By supporting our dedicated staff, partnering with families, and advocating for smart, responsible use of resources, I will help our district deliver the tools students need to thrive. I will also work at the state level to ensure small districts like ours are heard and funded fairly so we can continue building strong schools and an even stronger future for our community.
