Experience (300 characters max) Firefighter/EMT, Deputy Fire Marshal, former Police Officer. Over 16 years serving our communities. Proven leadership, deep local roots, and a strong advocate for safety, fiscal responsibility, and first responders.
As Fire Commissioner, my top priorities are supporting first responders, strengthening fiscal responsibility, and ensuring operational readiness. With firsthand experience in both fire and law enforcement, I understand the critical resources our crews need to protect lives and property. I am committed to responsible budgeting that balances efficiency with safety. I also prioritize community engagement and transparency—keeping residents informed and involved. I will advocate for firefighter health and wellness programs, safe staffing levels, and investments in training and equipment. My goal is to ensure that Snohomish Regional Fire & Rescue remains a model of service excellence.
The risk of fires is increasing due to hotter, drier summers, population growth, and evolving hazards like lithium-ion batteries and wildland-urban interface areas. As Deputy Fire Marshal, I see the importance of proactive mitigation. I support strengthening fire prevention efforts through education, code enforcement, and early detection systems. Continued investment in wildland training, fuel reduction programs, and community outreach are key. I will also champion partnerships with local agencies to ensure regional preparedness. Fire risk may rise, but with planning and prevention, we can reduce its impact.
As a Monroe resident, board member at Monroe Christian School, and active public servant, I value listening to our community. I plan to attend neighborhood meetings, community events, and fire station open houses to hear concerns directly. I also support using surveys, social media, and district newsletters to gather input. Accessibility and responsiveness are key to strong governance. I want all residents—including underrepresented voices—to feel heard and valued. I will ensure that public input is brought back to the board and reflected in our decisions.
Timely EMS response saves lives. I support staffing models that match call volume and ensure adequate coverage districtwide. That means investing in both personnel and response infrastructure, including station locations, equipment, and data-driven deployment strategies. As a Firefighter/EMT, I know the pressure our crews face. I will advocate for policies that support their efficiency and wellness. I also support community paramedicine programs and public CPR education to reduce strain on 911 and improve outcomes. Quick, capable response is a priority—and I’ll work to make sure it remains strong.
