Ypsilanti Charter Township Proposition B - Police Services
PROPOSITION TO AUTHORIZE THE RENEWAL AND RESTORATION OF 5.7000-MILLS FOR THE PURPOSE OF PROVIDING LAW ENFORCEMENT SERVICES,COMMUNITY POLICING/NEIGHBOR WATCH, AND ORDINANCE ENFORCEMENTShall the limitation on taxes which may be imposed each year for all purposes on realand tangible property in the Charter Township of Ypsilanti, Washtenaw County,Michigan, be increased as provided by section 6 Article IX of the Constitution ofMichigan, 1963, and the board of trustees be authorized to levy a tax not to exceed5.7000-mills ($5.7000 per $1000 of state equalized valuation) on the taxable value ofsuch property for a period of four years beginning with the levy made on December 1,2025 (which will generate estimated revenues of $10,638,169.00 in the first year) forthe purpose of providing revenues for law enforcement services, communitypolicing/neighborhood watch, and ordinance enforcement? Of the 5.7000 mills, 5.5169represents a renewal of that portion of a 5.7000 mills authorization previously approvedby electors as reduced by operation of the Headlee Amendment, and 0.1831 representsnew millage in the amount equal to the amount reduced by operation of the Headlee Amendment.
