PROPOSED LIQUOR QUESTION
“Do you favor the granting of liquor licenses for the sale of liquor in the Borough of New Florence?”PLAIN ENGLISH STATEMENTThe purpose of the ballot question is to determine whether the voters of the Borough of New Florence will permit the granting of liquor licenses by the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board for the sale of liquor.WHEREAS, a YES vote would mean the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board will allow the issuance of liquor licenses for establishments or businesses located within the Borough of New Florence.WHEREAS, a NO vote would mean that establishments or businesses located within the Borough of New Florence would not be able to apply for a liquor license from the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board.In case of a tie vote, the status quo shall obtain. If a majority of the voting electors in the Borough of New Florence vote “yes,” then liquor licenses shall be granted by the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board for the sale of liquor for establishments or businesses located within the Borough of New Florence. If a majority of the electors voting on any such question vote “no,” then the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board shall have no power to grant liquor licenses.
