Ephrata Borough Council 3rd Ward
There are 6 to 8 council members in each borough with half elected every 2 years. Borough Council members meet once monthly and are responsible for enacting, revising, repealing, and amending ordinances and resolutions that govern and are beneficial to the borough, but are not inconsistent with the laws of the Commonwealth. The Council appoints other borough officers such as secretary, treasurer, solicitor, manager, etc., but no council member can also be a borough employee. The Borough Council has the power to make, authorize, and ratify expenditures for lawful purposes from available funds or from funds borrowed within legal limits. Additionally, each member serves on at least one committee such as planning, police, public works, or finance.Term: 4 years

1st My concern for the residents of the Borough. Then my willingness to dig for facts and truth. As a semi - retired resident I am ever more concerned that people are able to afford to live here. Having worked in a family business and being a tour bus driver, I am open to meeting and talking to people and listening to their concerns. I also paid my own way through 2 years of photography school then enlisted in the US NAVY. While in the Navy I was the 1st Lt. Petty Officer, responsible for the enlisted berthing, ordering & procuring supplies. As well as ensuring a quality living space for my enlisted shipmates.
Being a land locked area having a budget that is affordable for the working person and young family as well as our growing older gracefully neighbors.
I am concerned about our lack of affordable housing. this coincides with our limited tax base. So, I believe the Borough should identify small plots of available land and encourage the construction of Tiny Houses. For the affordable part of housing and an added if minimal increase of the tax base. And future expenditures for infrastructure.
I/We listen to all people who wish to speak at council & committee meetings. It can have an influence on deliberations. we also must consider and ultimately abide by the Borough Code and its ordinances.
