Patrick Catena, County Council District 4
Taxes are at the top of my priorities. I strongly opposed and fought against the highest tax increase in Allegheny History. The problems also occurring in the Treasurer’s office with tax bills, late notices and not conducting business in a timely manner are unacceptable to me and the residents of Allegheny County. I will continue advocating for a more transparent effective process.
Second, public safety. Our local fire departments, Ems services and police departments are struggling to obtain critical funding, volunteers and enduring the ever-growing operational costs to ensure our residents’ safety.
Third, jobs and infrastructure. Our unions are leaving our County to obtain work. We need development, to grow and thrive for the future.
Differences of opinions and priorities always exist with individuals, however being able to work with both sides/parties and effectively work together for a resolution has been something that I am most proud of. I have practiced this my entire career as a public servant and believe that good effective governing needs to be able to work together smart not apart. When that happens, nothing gets solved. As President of County Council, I use this every day.
