Blighted Properties: My first priority is tackling blighted properties by collaborating with city attorneys to draft legislation that accelerates demolition, particularly for structures at immediate risk of collapse. I’d focus on holding out-of-state LLCs accountable for their investments and leverage existing Public Works resources to streamline the demolition process, potentially saving millions. I’m eager to discuss this further with Council members and the Mayor to align on actionable steps. Landslides: I would prioritize identifying high-risk landslide areas and advocating for funding.
I will be a continuing to first advocate for landslide assistance. I will reach across party lines to gather assistance from fellow city council members, and county and state officials. Working on legislation holding LLCs more accountable for their investments in our city who own dangerous and dilapidated buildings. Especially from out of state owners.
Work to shore up our cities infrastructure by reaching across party lines, and working with all my constituents and using the city’s resources to address our districts major needs.
We can get a lot done if we are willing to work together.
In the past, I successfully built consensus by engaging the public through media platforms to gather input on addressing blighted properties citywide. The general agreement was to demolish hazardous, collapsing structures and hold absentee landlords accountable. As a city council person. I would apply a similar strategy by fostering open dialogue through public forums or media engagement to identify priority areas, especially where opinions or priorities differ. I’d emphasize that blighted properties pose significant health and safety risks, making them a critical focus alongside other topics.
