Position/philosophy statement
My philosophy is simple: Anson County is better together. Progress happens when citizens, businesses, schools, municipalities, churches, and county leaders work toward shared goals. We may not always agree, but every person deserves to be heard, resp

I bring more than 26 years of experience in public service, education, leadership, and organizational management. As a teacher and school administrator, I have supervised employees, managed budgets and grant funds, led strategic planning, and worked with families, community organizations, and government agencies. I understand how to make difficult decisions, manage public resources responsibly, and hold organizations accountable. Most importantly, I listen, build relationships, and bring people together to solve problems. I will use these skills to promote transparent government, responsible oversight, economic development, strong communities, and a better future for Anson County.
The most important issue is strengthening Anson County’s financial foundation while addressing our aging water infrastructure. Reliable, clean water is essential to public health, economic development, housing, and future growth. The County Commission must establish clear priorities, pursue state and federal funding, manage the fund balance responsibly, and provide transparent oversight of every public dollar. We cannot simply manage decline. We must invest wisely in ourselves, protect taxpayers, and build the infrastructure needed to attract businesses, create jobs, and improve the quality of life for every Anson County community.
The County Commission must partner with the Board of Education and the state to create a realistic, long-term capital plan for repairing and improving our aging schools. Together, we should identify priorities, pursue state funding, and establish responsible local funding goals. County and school leaders must also advocate jointly for the General Assembly to fully fund the Leandro plan. In addition, the approximately $600 million being directed to private-school vouchers should be restored to public schools. Our students deserve safe facilities and the resources necessary for a sound, basic education.
Anson County must use infrastructure investment to become an affordable place where families can build homes, live, and work. I will pursue Tier 1 grants to improve water, sewer, broadband, and shovel-ready sites while requiring incentives to produce measurable jobs, wages, and local hiring. I will also support redeveloping the former Bowman High School into a community hub with a gym, weight room, fitness center, and offices for Social Services and other public-serving agencies. Seeking historic-landmark designation and outside funding could preserve this important site, reduce redevelopment costs, expand services, and create new economic activity.
We must remove the barriers that prevent Anson County residents from accessing employment, education, and essential services. I will support expanding ACTS community transportation with routes and schedules that better connect residents to local jobs, healthcare, education, and county services. I will advocate for SPCC to offer more Anson-specific trade and vocational programs at its Polkton campus, aligned with local employers and available careers. I will also require accountable, respectful customer service from Social Services and every county department, with clear information, timely responses, and help connecting residents to every resource for which they qualify.
