I have a BA from UW-EC in Journalism/Business, a MA from UW-SP in Education, & additional licensure from UW-S. I started my career at LUHS as a paraprofessional, oversaw the Wisconsin Design for Transition Success grant & taught special education, taught journalism/TV/newspaper, attained my Principal license and Director of Special Education (DSE)/Pupil Services license, and served as the DSE at Lakeland. Over my 28 years at LUHS, I've coached volleyball, softball, soccer, & advised Mock Trial & National Honor Society. From 2020-2024, I served as the special education administrator for the Bayfield School District. In the summer of 2024, I returned to the Lakeland area & the classroom to teach special education at Lac du Flambeau.
Schools are a reflection of the communities they serve. Like many schools across the country, LUHS needs to be creative in accessing financial opportunities to support basic needs to educate our children - repairing & maintaining an aging facility, recruiting & developing highly qualified educators - are challenging, yet crucial to educating our students. Lakeland finally has a quality leader at the administrative helm. The Board has the opportunity to work with & support their new superintendent to grow & adjust to an ever-changing educational climate. It is only through a shared vision & a collaborative approach that the LUHS board will best support our community, our school, our children, our future.
Having lived in Manitowish Waters & Minocqua, my now adult boys attended North Lakeland Elementary, MHLT, and Lakeland schools. I continue to stay connected with community members throughout our feeder districts & am active in a number of community activities that makes me visible & approachable to a variety of my constituents. I am invested & take pride in our Northwoods communities & feel my background allows me to best represent & serve those communities as a LUHS board member.

I believe my background in education, business, and school board service makes me well-qualified to continue serving our communities.
I taught Marketing and Business at LUHS for 32 years, and for the past six years, I have served on the LUHS School Board, including liaison to the Star School and the Lakeland Area Consortium for Autism, Policy and Facilities Committees, and as Board Treasurer and President. These experiences have given me valuable insight into the complexities of education and reinforced how my experience can help move our district forward.
My experience in the insurance industry and as a small business owner allows me to bring a balanced perspective to board decisions.
I wish to ensure the district remains transparent in its fiscal spending and responsive to its budget needs. Having served two terms, my focus remains on three primary goals: (1) student achievement and safety, (2) effective use of human and financial resources, and (3) strong communication with all stakeholders.
To achieve these goals, we need to implement data-driven, personalized learning to boost achievement, establish multi-tiered safety systems, leverage collaborative budgeting to maximize resources, and maintain consistent, two-way communication with families and community stakeholders. We need to continue securing grants to assist in taxpayer relief. For detailed specifics, please view the Lakeland Times LUHS School Board Profile
A proactive approach to listening to constituents is essential. We provide a public forum at board meetings and welcome communication with staff, administration, and board members. Continued community engagement is vital to promoting transparency. This work is supported through public committees such as the Facilities Committee and the Strategic Planning Committee. In addition, we hold Committee of the Whole meetings that encourage community input. Recently, we hosted one on facility use fees, and I was impressed by the strong participation and thoughtful perspectives shared.
I welcome phone calls and emails and am always willing to help connect individuals with the appropriate person to address their questions or concerns.
