The current School Board has consistently shown a genuine concern for doing what's in the best interest of our students and our taxpayers. When we disagree, we do so respectfully. Our varying backgrounds and perspectives serve us well. My teaching background at Johnson Creek occasionally contributes to our decision making.
Diversity can benefit our district, and we need to embrace it, but I believe we simply need to hire the best people available to us.
Our School Board has to hire the best, most capable, people we can find and let them work. Certainly we have to help provide the framework, the policies, the rules under which that work takes place. We also have to assure that our taxpayer's money is spent wisely and efficiently. We can't lose sight of the fact that every decision has to balance our students' education with our financial realities.

What distinguishes me from other candidates for the school board is my strong commitment to community engagement, my leadership experience, and my data-driven approach to decision-making. I prioritize open communication with parents, teachers, and students to ensure that all voices are heard. My goal is to foster a collaborative environment that supports both academic excellence and personal growth for all students.
In order to recruit the best, most qualified, and diverse candidates it is important to make the district a destination. In the past, JCSD was a district that had high turnover. In recent years this has changed and retention has been achieved. It is important to make the district a place where people from all backgrounds feel welcome to apply and stay once on staff.
There are a number of responsibilities a school board member has. First and foremost, they are a representative of those that elected them and need to do so in a positive, professional manner. Beyond that a school board member is responsible for creating an educational vision of the district. This is done through a number of ways including budgeting (which has been difficult for nearly all districts in the state), policy (ensuring they are inclusive of all students while also being legally compliant), and staff hiring (ensuring the district gets the best candidates for the job).
