- Improve operational transparency - Improve technology used to communicate and publish information to the public (website, email, other tech options) - Provide critical eye to better manage expenditures and financial outlays - Understand intergovernmental relationships to increase the public's awareness and understanding of those relationships - Improve the overall relationship of the Town government with the public
- Clearly articulate that we work for the people - Allow for improved discourse between the public and the town board - Enhance transparency so the public has a better understanding of the town's operations
Fire and EMS services have been shifted from Cambridge EMS/Fire to Town of Lake Mills EMS/Fire, causing increased response times to much of the Town of Oakland. Need to dig into the relationships of the various localities and get a clear direction on how to proceed with respect to improving these services. There is a lot of flux in the relationships with the neighboring town, and that needs to be addressed with specificity and expediency. Language in intergovernmental agreements needs to be crystal clear both in service expectations and financial outlays, such that the public's expectations can be addressed and met.

I have been a Town of Oakland Board Supervisor since I was appointed in October of 2012. Protection and safety of our residents is number 1. This includes continuing to work on Fire/EMS issues the Town of Oakland has been dealing with for the past couple of years. I will also make sure we continue to have adequate police protection and safe roads. Further, I will continue to monitor the remediation procedures for the Enbridge oil leak. Also, I grew up on a generational family farm in the Town of Oakland, where our parents taught us the importance of farming. I will stand up for our farming industry whenever and wherever needed; and work to protect our farmland. I will be diligent to protect our lakes, Lake Ripley and Red Cedar Lake.
As a Board we have faced challenges, especially with Fire/EMS and the Enbridge oil leak. I will make sure we work to keep our residents informed on these issues and others, by seeing that our Town website is updated constantly and made easier to find important issues. I will welcome and listen to our constituents, and answer questions and concerns as they are brought to me. As always, if I don’t have an immediate answer, I will find the answer and then provide the information in a timely manner. I will also encourage our citizens to attend our Board meetings and make issues known through public comment. If these issues are not brought on an agenda, I will ask that they be included on an agenda for the next Board meeting.
Affordable housing in the Town of Oakland is a concern of mine, especially for our senior citizens. I will support research into the development of affordable housing in order to keep our seniors in the Town of Oakland when they find that their current housing is no longer possible.
