Education
B.S. Television, Radio and Film from Syracuse University
Qualifications/Experience
I am currently on the Board of Education. I was selected in July 2023 to fill a vacant seat and was elected last fall to serve the final year of the unexpired term. I am excited to potentially serve on the board for my first full term if elected this year.
Involvement in Community
I have lived in Medford for over 35 years, where I attended Medford Township Public Schools and Shawnee High School. I now teach Film and Broadcasting at a local high school and serve on the Medford Board of Education. My wife and I are raising our two daughters here, and I coach my 3rd-grade daughter's soccer team. Through my roles as a teacher, coach, and board member, I am deeply involved in supporting both the educational system and youth activities in our community.
Children and Ages
I have two daughters, 8 and 5. My oldest is in 3rd grade and my other daughter is in Kindergarten at Chairville Elementary School.
Slogan
Building Excellent Education
I am motivated to serve on the Board because I want to give back to the district that shaped me and supports my children. As a lifelong Medford resident, I am deeply rooted in this community and invested in its success. With 17 years of teaching experience, I understand what students and teachers need to thrive. I am frustrated by the ongoing decrease in state aid through Bill S2 over the past seven years and am committed to working to restore funding. I will fight to ensure our schools continue to meet the high expectations of our community while maintaining Medford’s reputation as one of the top districts in New Jersey.
The Board of Education plays a key role in supporting students’ mental and social well-being by providing access to essential services like counseling, mental health professionals, and social-emotional learning programs. The strategic plan developed last year, with significant community input, highlighted these priorities and led to this year’s ballot measure. This proposal would fund crucial resources such as additional school security officers, mental health clinicians, behavioral specialists, and a safety communication platform. By supporting these initiatives, we can ensure that our schools offer a secure, supportive environment where nearly 3,000 students and staff can thrive.
One area where the School District excels is its commitment to a well-rounded curriculum, particularly the inclusion of the Arts and enrichment programs alongside core subjects like reading, writing, and math. These elements foster academic growth and enhance students' social-emotional development and creativity. As a member of the curriculum committee, I have gained firsthand insights from our administrators about the effectiveness of our programs. To maintain and expand what is going well, I will advocate for continued support and resources for these subjects, ensuring they thrive and adapt to meet our students' evolving needs, even amid budget challenges.
