When my husband and I moved here over 3 years ago, I became involved in trying to improve road conditions in my neighborhood. I recently facilitated a move to reduce the speed limit on my road to make it safer for pedestrians and cyclists and am currently pushing for better signage. I have rallied my neighbors to attend Board meetings to give support to these efforts, and organized them to strategize on more ways to advocate for improved safety. I have come to love our town deeply, and I know how to get things done for the betterment of our community. I was raised to be civic-minded, and soon after moving here became an active volunteer with Project Sage, NECC, and Habitat for Humanity. I would be honored to serve my town in this capacity.
My background is in grants management for criminal justice and law school nonprofits. I will bring my budgetary skills to the board, and will pursue new grants for North East. I will use my experience in operations management to improve efficiency. My time as president of a homeowners’ association taught me how to negotiate competing interests and diverse personalities. It instilled in me the importance of seeking input and buy-in from all who are affected by our decisions. I served as alumni liaison to my educational institution’s project of reconciliation involving faculty, students, and the community. I listen with intention, and work for fair and just solutions to issues as well as seek to improve upon the status quo.
1) Transparency and Accountability: Knowledge is empowering: the Board should host annual Q&A forums for residents as it voted to do 5 years ago, and provide educational workshops on the municipal budgetary process. I will also encourage more residents to attend the monthly meetings.

2) Quality of Life: As I did in my own neighborhood, I want to make more of our roads safer for pedestrians and cyclists. Also, we should be using brine instead of salt on our roads to reduce groundwater toxins - other Hudson Valley towns are doing this.

3) Economic Growth: North East should be building more affordable housing for workers in support of the business community.
