My vision for the Cave Creek School Board is to ensure a learning environment where all students, regardless of background, have equal access to high-quality education and opportunities to succeed. I am committed to supporting programs like advanced coursework and vocational training through partnerships such as EVIT, ensuring every student has the tools and resources they need to thrive. By focusing on educational equality, we can create a school culture where all students are valued and have the same opportunities to reach their full potential.
Our current superintendent brings strong leadership skills and a deep understanding of our district, which are invaluable in guiding our schools. I fully support continuing to build on this strong foundation by ensuring we maintain a collaborative approach. The superintendent’s ability to work closely with teachers, parents, board members, and the community helps keep our district aligned on key goals and priorities. Fiscal responsibility and strategic planning are essential, and our superintendent excels in managing resources to directly benefit students and staff. In an evolving educational landscape, their ability to balance innovation with tradition ensures we embrace new opportunities while staying true to our district’s values. Most importantly, our superintendent operates with integrity and transparency, earning the trust of the community through open communication and a focus on the well-being of students and staff.
While I support School Choice, as it allows our district to attract students from outside the district and helps grow our enrollment, it cannot come at the detriment of the students attending our district schools. When it comes to the costs of special education evaluations and proportionate share services for ESA (Empowerment Scholarship Account) students, my priority is to ensure that the district's resources are not stretched to the point where it negatively impacts the students already enrolled. We need to work with the state to ensure that appropriate funding for these services is provided, so it doesn’t create an additional burden on our district’s budget.
Our district's three most pressing issues are student support, teacher retention, and safety. First, student support is essential for ensuring a well-rounded education. I would prioritize funding for academic programs, extracurriculars, and vocational training like EVIT, ensuring all students have the resources and opportunities they need to succeed, whether college-bound or career-focused. Second, teacher retention is critical for maintaining quality education. I would prioritize competitive salaries and professional development to make sure educators feel valued and supported, which directly impacts student outcomes. Finally, safety and well-being are non-negotiable. I would allocate resources to maintain partnerships with law enforcement, enhance mental health services, and continue safety training to ensure a secure learning environment. By prioritizing these areas in the budget, we can address the most critical needs of our district and provide a high-quality education.
The board should ensure that the curriculum equips students with the necessary skills for college, career, and life readiness. Additionally, the board must review curriculum decisions for transparency and accountability, ensuring that resources are allocated to support effective teaching and learning. In short, the school board plays a supportive, oversight role to ensure the curriculum reflects the district's goals and the needs of the community.
