I would address the impact of population development on the roads and traffic by conducting a road traffic survey from South Carolina Department of Transporation (SCDOT) to determine road use, safety, runoff, and infrastructure. I would do the same for traffic by identifying frequent traffic light accidents and traffic light wait time to make necessary suggestions. I would work closely with the SCDOT to make sure our roads and traffic flow are safely maintained. I would like to see the student-to teacher ratio smaller so that each student will receive the individual attention they need. I would like to see local industries work more with our high schools to promote on the job training for students seventeen and older.
The biggest strategy is finding a way to repeal the open carry law and require gun safety training. The implementation of say something in our schools and community where you can report bullying, threats, harmful thoughts, self harm, gun violence, and gang related activity. Community inervention programs that would include crime watch, neigborhood associations, neigborhood policing (increase visibility), cameras, and police substations in high crime areas.
I would advocate for under-served areas of the county by identifying three reasonable things the area need to make the quality of life better. Creating neighborhood associations or having quarterly town hall meetings to interact with the residents to hear thoughts and concerns. The most important thing about advocating is knowing what my constituents want and need so that I can recommend ways to achieve a favorable outcome throughout District 7 and Sumter County.
