I love this little city! Initially we bought a cabin here to use seasonally. We grew to love the city and the people in it so much that we chose to retire here and moved here full time a year ago. I am passionate about helping our volunteer fire department grow in terms of getting the best equipment we can manage and would like to help the city as well. My background includes 30+ years in real estate so getting along with others, negotiating and problem solving in general are all tools of the trade.
As a City Councilman, I am one of 4 people making decisions, so my first priority will be consensus building with those elected. I am aware that people in small towns don’t like people from bigger towns moving in and trying to change everything. I WOULD like to see a few more businesses in town and will be trying to promote that. Lastly, I hope to be a good steward of the budget and our spending so we can afford bigger projects when they are necessary.
We have a wonderfully diverse community here already. I have met many people in our work with the fire department, Red Cross, Second Harvest and more. I share many community events taking place here and in the ring of small towns surrounding us on Social Media. City Council meetings are open forums for the Community to attend and ask questions.
Our City Council meeting minutes are posted on our website monthly. I try, even just as an engaged community member to post about important decisions that are coming up and asking for community input on various social media sites. Decisions that impact the city’s future are too important not to call for reasoned, pro’s and con’s from anyone that wants to offer opinions.
