As local legislators who sometimes have executive power, council members can propose ordinances, set administrative policy, and authorize the budget proposed by the mayor. They oversee all city activities, including city services, programs, licensing, and public safety. Mayoral appointments to city government typically require council approval. I have been a resident for 11 years, but have spent nearly 20 years directly involved in the community. My local government experience spans 20 years, including as the former City of Carver Park & Rec Supervisor. I have worked with the Carver Parks Commission, Carver Heritage Preservation Commission, the Township Fire Board, and with other area municipalities. Through my tenure as a 2nd term City Councilmember, I have the experience, knowledge and area connections to continue to lead wisely. I will continue to lead by listening to those that elected me, by moving forward with a knowledge base of being integrated into the community, and with the respect for the voters who have put their faith in me to represent them.
1. Sustainable Communities for all ages/abilities. Create ways to offer services and amenities to young, old and those with differing capabilities.
2. Infrastructure/Maintenance. Many of Carver's roads and infrastructure are in need of replacement and upgrades. Manage burden on taxpayers.
3. Taxing/Spending. As a growing community, the weight of wants and needs can be difficult. Maintaining a manageable tax levy to keep people in their homes and able to afford Carver.
Carver has grown from a small rural community, to a small town/suburban area. Our population looks much different than it did even 5-10 years ago. Diversity does not just include ethnicity and gender, it also includes age, abilities, socio-economic status, and so many more. Remaining cognizant of the differences and needs to promote success in these areas is important. Continued growth and addition of assisted living/care facilities is important, to help keep residents in Carver for a life time.
I practice the utmost in transparency for the residents. I have proven this by voting against disguised taxes such as franchise fees. Carver is one of only three cities in the County who do not have this utility fee pass through tax. I am always accountable to my vote, I am honest with residents whether they are for or against an issue, and willing to fight for their voices on the matter. I was elected to office to represent Carver residents, and I do my best to uphold and work that promise.

I am currently a member of the Carver City Council. I also have experience working for the local government on the City of Carver Planning Commission and the Carver County Park and Recreation Commission. I have 25 years of engineering experience. I love the current character of Carver. The city has done a good job of maintaining Carver’s small-town feel. I am proud to be able to contribute to the City of Carver’s future. I enjoy attending the meetings and I am very prepared for every meeting. I always read the memos and staff reports in the council packets. I enjoy looking over plans for future city infrastructure projects. My engineering experience helps me assess the costs and benefits for current and future residents.
Fiscal Responsibility: The city council must spend money wisely. It is important to ensure needs for future growth are met and city services are maintained as the population increases without overtaxing existing residents.
Managing Construction Projects: We must have effective planning and oversight on the multimillion-dollar levee project.
Support for future development: Carver is a growing community and needs strategic investment in infrastructure and well thought out planning and zoning.
I am here to serve the entire community of Carver. I always appreciate hearing from city residents about any issues facing the City of Carver. As an engineer I know there is never just one solution to a problem. A variety of viewpoints allow us to find the best solution.
The City of Carver does an excellent job with transparency. Carver has an active Facebook page and a newsletter is sent with residents’ utility bills. Recordings of the City of Carver’s meetings are available on YouTube. The city always sends a notice to residents about meetings when a project is proposed near their neighborhood. I would make sure that these methods of communication continue. I am always willing to answer emails and text or talk on the phone with any resident.
