City of King City Councilor {_getChooseLabel(this.selections.length)}

The members of a City Council supervise the city departments, either directly or through a city manager or administrator. City Councilors pass laws, set policy, decide which services will be provided, and develop budgets; they negotiate work contracts and make hiring and firing decisions. A city officer must be a qualified elector under the state constitution who has resided in the city before being elected for a period of time that is specified in the city charter.King City Councilors are elected at large. Voters are asked to vote for a number of candidates equal to the number of open seats. They serve for a 4-year term (unless they are filling out a partial term) and are elected on a nonpartisan basis. In most cities, the City Councilors are unpaid.

I believe in equal opportunity for all of us, in other words, the public should be notified of City Council decisions, at least via e-mail asap. so the public can provide input at the very next meeting. I also believe the current 3 minute time limit for input is an insult. I would think that the voice of the public is just as important as the City Council, meaning no time limit.
The most important need of King City is to be listened to. I have been and will continue to go door to door seeking the input and ideas of the public. For far too long, the public has been ignored, possibly because most are elderly and not able to get to City Council meetings. I seem to remember we have a bus in King City. I suggest we use it to provide community rides to attend City Council meetings.
This is a problem that does not have a permanent fix, and will grow in time unless we all make the right decisions at the ballot box. There are a number of resources available, such as churches, volunteer groups and efforts through the police departments.
