The members of a City Council supervise the city departments, either directly or through a city manager or administrator. City Councilors pass laws, set policy, decide which services will be provided, and develop budgets; they negotiate work contracts and make hiring and firing decisions. A city officer must be a qualified elector under the state constitution who has resided in the city before being elected for a period of time that is specified in the city charter.Albany City Councilors are elected by districts known as wards. They serve for a 4-year term (unless they are filling out a partial term) and are elected on a nonpartisan basis. In most cities, the City Councilors are unpaid.

Work to reduce/limit actions that restrict city’s ability to operate and make decisions in the communities best interest as allowed under Oregon’s “Home Rule“. Work to ensure state and federal regulators recognize the impact unfunded mandates place on the City’s ability to provide services.
Develop a strong economic base with public and private collaboration and participation to attract high value investment that produces family wage jobs exceeding the county median wage.
Having spent the majority of my life in Albany, I have a deep respect and love for our community. I have always approached the positions I have held with the understanding it is not about me but those we serve.
To that end ensuring safe and healthy community must always remain a core priority while providing excellent customer service to our residents. This requires policies and budgetary decisions focused on creating a strong economy that provides family wage jobs and a strong tax base. To ensure prosperity for future generations we must remain fiscally responsible and responsive to our citizen’s needs.
Reaching out to members of community to solicit feedback and maintain open lines of communication. I will remain available to hear thoughts and concerns of citizens and work collaboratively to identify solutions and address issues that arise, while also developing strategies to maintain, grow, and attract businesses and industries to the community.

The City of Albany needs housing solutions, affordable early childhood education, and support for public safety. I will work on these key issues by advocating for initiatives that address their root cause, treating the issues holistically.
I look forward to serving as an Albany City Councilor so that I may help Albany achieve its boundless potential. Raising my daughter has deepened my commitment to nurturing our community. I want to ensure my daughter has a safe and thriving city to grow up in. I want to pass policies that will benefit her, and all the residents of Albany not just today, but in the future as well. I intend to do what is right, what is just, and what is fair for everyone here in Albany.
I believe in transparency in city government. I will work hard to ensure open communication, and advocate for policies that represent the diverse needs of our community. I will listen collaboratively to the needs of our residents, and put our ideas into action.
