As a past commissioner I have experience both reviewing and approving past APRC budgets. I have also served on the Citizen's Budget Committee and understand where our general fund tax dollars come from and how our city's plans allocate these funds.
With a limited budget for both parks and recreation the commission is tasked with making sure that APRC staff has the operating budget to maintain the facilities, trails and open space that they manage. Current goals include park and facility upgrades that are paid for by general fund dollars and state and federal grants.
Citizen feedback is the best measure of how well we are doing our job and keeps us focused on where we should be putting our energy and resources. Industry best practices helps us measure where and how we should be using our general fund and tax dollars.
