Professionally, my extensive education and experience as an Urban Planner since 1981, an Attorney since 1998, and a City Commissioner since 2011 make me the best candidate for this position. My education (BA; MA and JD) and experience in the public and private sectors provide me with diverse skills in complex analysis of issues, writing, negotiating, public speaking, research, and a vast network of professionals and other elected officials to work with.
My experience in government includes working with a variety of complex issues affecting residents, including 15 years as a City Commissioner at the City of Stuart, as well as time in Martin County as a Senior Planner and as an attorney since 1998. I have completed the Institute for
The fight for Home Rule begins with each citizen exercising their voting franchise and keeping in touch with the State representatives who vote in Tallahassee on matters affecting local government, down to our main roads, local streets, and public safety.
The direct route to Tallahassee is through our State representative- Gayle Harrell (State Senate District 31) and our House Representative – Toby Overdorf (State House District 85- term-limited)- and John Snyder (State House District 86 – outside the City limits). The city depends on our lobbyists/advocates, the Martin County Legislative Delegation, the Leagues of Cities, as well as personal phone calls and meetings on matters that concern the residents of Stuart. This creates a structural deficit for our City. We are looking at cutting services across the spectrum and how to balance the funding of services. All services are essential from Police and Fire to garba collection, Parks, Recreation and other areas. Dealing with the loss of funds and bolster budget shortfalls could result in such measures as:
1. Reducing staff in some administrative positions
2. Reducing garbage pickup days (in place now )
3. Increase fees for the use of Park facilities
4. Mowing less
5. Reducing Shifts for Police and Fire to avoid payment for overtime
6. Adding Special Assessment fees for certain services -eg. Increase fire assessment
7. Increase development fees
8. Delay some major projects
This project needs countywide and regional coordination. We need to put "Housing First" in our plans and be able to access federal and philanthropic grants to purchase land and build housing to accommodate the unhoused population and support them as they transition to greater productivity and independence based on their circumstances and abilities.
City needs staff to do “Street outreach” to assess the need in our city, connect with the agencies that supply emergency shelters, or research to find grant funds to build emergency shelters: Connect with the county to work together.
Through our comprehensive planning process, we can also work with developers to set aside funds for low-income housing.
Seek federal funds to assist.
Protect the environment by making mindful daily choices. We can reduce consumption through reusing and recycling, and the city has an excellent program in place.
More shade trees in our city will allow us to lower our carbon footprint by walking, biking, or using public transit.
Communicate with residents about conserving vital resources such as water and electricity in our homes.
Let residents know that small conscious efforts will positively impact the quality of our air and water, over time.
Continue to fine-tune and expand the work our Environmental Attorney is doing to clean up muck in the Waterways. Continue our Septic to sewer implementation. Acquire conservation lands to clean the water flow into our rivers and lagoons.

Investigative journalism has allowed me to dig deep into the corruption that’s has corroded our town . I’ve been to every state in the United States ,I’ve seen what ideas worked ..& I’ve seen what ideas didn’t work in multiple communities ,I’m the best candidate because my life experience mixed with my need for transparency are something we’ve rarely seen in this community and will keep our community safe ,it’s unfortunate that we only see stuff on the surface level ,my goal is to bring everything to the light .
We fight !!! Other candidates have already admitted when “big government “ says something we follow and that’s not the case with me ..if they say they allow 10 story buildings we don’t say “well okay” ..WE FIGHT .
That’s a hard question ,we never want anybody to lose their job ,I would start with the treasure coast regional planning ,I don’t like what I’ve seen when I dug deep into what they’ve got going on , low level jobs that don’t vastly impact our community if lost would be the first affected ,we must make sure our most important areas are 100% covered .
First of all if shouldn’t be illegal to be homeless , to arrest people who are living in the woods isn’t right,majority of our homeless have suffer from mental issues , it’s easy to say let’s build a shelter ..but..from what I’ve seen it comes with ALOT of issues ..maybe a bus converted with as many beds as possible with no permanent location . I’m open to any ideas our community can agree with .
HIRE PEOPLE WHO CARE ..I’m disgusted with what I’ve uncovered ..we must start muck removal ..we must engage with seagrass farms and bring back the grass we so desperately need ..
