Casnovia township government must do better. Failure of elected leadership to proactively update local ordinances results in predictable outcomes that do not serve the broad interests of the taxpayers. Reactionary government is no government. However, local governments can and do exercise legal avenues to challenge abuses coming from federal/state law either individually or in cooperation with other municipalities. Citizens can work thru their local government to petition for remedies to problem areas of local concern. Casnovia citizens must be encouraged by the elected to participate in the public meetings, discussions of ordinance review, and township policy development. The Township Supervisor must inspire taxpayers to participate.
1. Update of fire services equipment, facilities & emergency response time. 2. Road Maintenance 3. Evaluation of cemetery maintenance & ordinance compliance 4. Senior Programing needs 5. Review & Ordinance update 6. Fix the sub-optimal Bailey Sanitary Sewage System 7. Job performance & evaluation of elected township positions 8. Prioritize Casnovia attendance & representation at county government meetings. (Muskegon Township Association, etc.) 9. Data security & election security review 10. Transparency Initiatives (Live Streaming public meetings)

The Township Supervisor must encourage a culture where elected officials together, prioritize efforts to improve and motivate public participation in the local government process.

The Casnovia Township Website (www.castwp.com) can be a reliable and up to date source of important, accurate, educational, and relevant information. Unfortunately, the current township supervisor has not prioritized the importance of this very valuable tool. I am currently conducting a township wide survey to obtain responses of voters in each of our 36 township sections on the very question of their personal use and opinion of the township website. Another tool and arguably the most potent...A regular monthly campaign to personally contact 25 or more township residents and invite them to a Township Board Meeting & encourage their participation & public comment. The traditional excuse that no one cares is over. Ask & they will come.
