I have a high schl education and attended college until moving to WY 48 years ago. I worked 30 years in a family owned Construction Co. managing it for 17 years building it into a multi million dollar Co. After selling the business I worked for WYDOT 15 years, 7 years in the Maintenance Dept, 3 of those years as a jr. foreman. I transferred to the Striping Dept. for 8 years as a working supervisor/foreman. I have been on Lander City Council holding multiple liaison positions, working a long side of three different mayors. I have been on the Lander Fire Dept for 38 yrs.
I support the 1/2 cent tax to increase economic development in our area, but I feel we need to make a few modifications. I believe that an individual should not be able to be awarded more than once, so we can maximize the awards to new businesses. This is the tax payer's money and needs to be spent responsibly.
I understand the housing supply shortage and elevated pricing, but you can only fit so many people into Lander's footprint. I do not believe in densification in Lander city limits. People move to Lander for the open spaces. I think we should keep Lander as pristine as possible. Over crowding does not benefit the town or the people. Our infrastructure and water supply are pretty stressed as it is right now. All these things need to be considered moving Lander into the future.
I believe Lander is a livable town right now. Support of our local businesses is desperately needed. We need to support Lander 1st. Support of the 1/2 cent tax building new businesses in town creating jobs while supporting our current small businesses. Promote local shopping and not on line. On line shopping is killing our small businesses. BUY LANDER, BUILD LANDER.

Yes. The ½-cent sales tax makes the local commercial air service reliable and available for locals to travel, ground transportation is necessary for many to travel to their medical appointments throughout the county and is a valuable service that should be invested in. The tax contributes to the success of new and growing businesses. The processes should be responsive to feedback to ensure best practices are implemented and that requirements align with benefiting the community, clearly communicating to the community to foster shared enthusiasm for economic development.
Affordable residential development above downtown shops and businesses. Affordable small-scale, well-designed multi-family housing in more areas of the city. Infill development; using land within existing developed areas for further residential development where appropriate. Collaboration with landlords and other stakeholders to create processes and agreements to best utilize the current supply of housing. Work with community partners (the hospital, FCSD#1 and other employers) to seek grants to develop housing that attracts young professionals and their families to Lander.
Advocate for the preservation and promotion of Lander’s historic structures to strengthen tourism around the story of Lander’s history. Investigate and encourage expanding Lander in a way that appeals to younger populations and retirees (e.g. clothing, social activities, increasing the availability of quality jobs that support a living wage). Maintain and extend the walkable development pattern including increasing accessibility through adequate continuity of sidewalks, curb cuts, ADA ramps, and continue the work of the incorporation of identified and planned pathways.
