Occupation/Current Position Director of Operations for the Grand Traverse Democrats
Education Bachelor in Business Administration, Master's in Management, and currently in a Master program for Nonprofit Leadership
I am running for Grand Traverse County Commissioner for District 2, to continue the work I have been doing while serving my first term, I was elected in 2022 to serve my community by working to find solutions to issues constituents face, like lack of daycare, mental health care availability, and ensure that economic development creates jobs and positions that allow citizens of all demographics can afford to live and thrive here in GT County. I am a single mother who worked multiple jobs in hospitality, real estate, and retail, sometimes at the same time, to earn her bachelor's in Business Administration and a Master's in Management from Davenport University. I am currently in the process of earning my Master's in Nonprofit Leadership. I am looking forward to continuing my relationships and building new ones to continue to solve the issues facing our county.
I strongly believe that the County can come to the table with other municipalities and partnerships to solve problems facing our community. Finding ways to create housing that is affordable for families and young people moving here, wanting to stay, or have the desire to move back to where they grew up is a top priority for me when I am re-elected. I believe there are ways that a County can participate and find ways to solve issues. This is also the same belief I have with assisting the unhoused and community members facing homelessness. Bringing the correct stakeholders to the table and continuing the needed conversations is a definite way to find solutions. Another top issue, especially as a single mother, is finding ways to lift barriers to see more childcare providers open in GT County. As a member of the board of Networks Northwest, understanding that the daycare crisis and economic growth are connected in and ecosystem and aligning with workforce development entities like Networks Northwest and TC Connect is pertinent to ensure childcare providers grow so members of our community and jump back into the workforce and ensure that they can house their families and thrive in GT County.
