I am passionate about public policies that focus on violence prevention, equitable education, collaborative youth programs, and comprehensive healthcare access. Addressing violence in all its forms—not just gun violence—through community programs, mental health support, and conflict resolution education is essential for creating safer communities. Ensuring quality education for all children, regardless of their socio-economic background, is critical; this involves equalizing funding and resources across districts so that a child's zip code does not determine the quality of their education. Collaborative efforts among community organizations can maximize resources and reach more youth, providing them with the essential services and support they need. Additionally, advocating for affordable, comprehensive healthcare for everyone, with a strong emphasis on preventive care and mental health services, is vital for the well-being of our society.
My top legislative priority for 2025 is to ensure affordable and comprehensive healthcare access, with a strong focus on mental health services. I would advocate for policies that expand healthcare coverage to all individuals. Integrating mental health services into primary care, increasing funding for mental health programs, and investing in the mental health workforce are essential steps. Emphasizing preventive care through public health campaigns and ensuring access to vaccinations, screenings, and wellness checks without financial barriers are crucial. Strengthening community health efforts by fostering partnerships between government agencies, local organizations, and healthcare providers, and supporting community-based solutions addressing social determinants of health, like housing and nutrition, would improve overall health outcomes. These actions would create a more inclusive and effective healthcare system, prioritizing the well-being of all individuals.
