Tennessean voices are not being heard, but my mission is clear: to listen, engage, and improve lives. I'm running to protect a woman's right to make her own healthcare decisions, shield our children from gun violence, and ensure every Tennessean can make ends meet. I understand the pressure of providing for a family and share the fear of parents when they drop their kids off at school. Women face a crisis with stripped reproductive freedoms, and draconian laws are driving families away. I'm running because I believe our voices, united, can bring change.
Congress should address 1) Gun violence: Legislate storage, mental health support, conflict resolution, waiting periods, and universal background checks. Regulate semi-automatic weapons and limit high-capacity magazines. 2) Reproductive Freedom: Protect abortion, contraception, IVF, emergency care, and travel for healthcare. Oppose national abortion ban. 3) Affordability: Increase housing and job training, reinstate child tax credits, and reduce middle-class taxes. 4) Healthcare: Lower prescription costs, support mental health, advocate for a public option, and strengthen the ACA. 5) Immigration: Address asylum-seeker and immigration court backlog. Limit number of people at the border with resources and bipartisan reform.
First, I would introduce and support responsible gun ownership legislation that requires universal background checks and waiting periods, without exceptions. Second, I want to prevent accidental shootings among children by pushing for fingerprint technology that would prevent children from pulling the trigger and require safe storage in homes. Finally, I would champion legislation that determines who and how one can become the owner of a high-powered, semi-automatic firearm and limit high-capacity magazines. The loss of life that we have seen is entirely preventable and Republicans and Democrats must work together to protect our children and others whose lives have been forever altered by tragedies created by guns.

I am running for Congress because I want to make positive change by making Congress work for Americans. I want to bring back a culture of bipartisanship whereby we are Americans first. Partisan division has entrenched gridlock in Congress such that phrases such as "government shutdown" have become the norm. I want to make issues like economic prosperity, healthcare, immigration etc. the order of the day and not focus on partisan witch-hunt. As a small business owner, I know what it takes to create jobs; as a physician, I have firsthand knowledge of obstacles Americans face with their healthcare needs; and as an attorney, I understand policies and their effects. I will bring a holistic approach to seeking solutions to concerns of Americans.
1. ECONOMIC PROSPERITY- Inflation makes it hard for people to make ends meet. The middle class is disappearing, making it harder to achieve the American Dream. Congress needs to create a climate that encourages job creation. 2. HEALTHCARE: Healthcare is a right and Congress can do more with making it more affordable and accessible. 3. IMMIGRATION: Immigration is not only a social issue; also, an economic issue. The disarray needs a bipartisan solution. 4. WOMEN'S RIGHTS/HEALTH/ABORTION DEBATE: Every woman should have an unchallengeable right to the entirety and integrity of her body. 5. GUN SAFETY: We need nonpartisan solutions. It starts with coming together: using gun safety and not gun control helps the dialogue (debunks taking rights).
1. GUN SAFETY MEASURES- Evidence-based and common-sense measures such as making ownership of guns similar to car ownership, gun safety education, age restrictions, medical restrictions, and more funding for research on gun violence. 2. NONPARTISAN COMMUNITY BASED: Studies have shown that gun violence especially mass shootings are less in rural and closely knit communities. I will seek funding for community enhancement activities like block parties in urban and suburban communities. This solution avoids the partisan tussle that has stalled solutions. 3. GUN VIOLENCE IN SCHOOLS: Parental partnership in the is a key part and we have to create laws allowing liability claims to be brought for negligence on the part of adults whose guns are used.
