The same thing that motivated me to run for the Vinton seat on the School Board...I want to give back to the community that has given me so much.

I'm sure you've heard the saying "it takes a village to raise a child". I'm that child. Vinton raised me as a child with neighbors watching me after school, taking me to practices, talking to me about life skills, morals, manners and everything in between. Yes, I'm that child. And then as an adult Vinton has supported me in my business ventures along life's journey so I owe this community for my business success. Many mentors who guided me along the way such as Henry Brabham, Tommy Woods, and others.

So I owe everything to people of Vinton.
If elected, I plan to continue giving back excess funds to our citizens. For instance, we just had an increase in real estate revenue by approximately $12m. We gave back a modest $2.2m in a .02 reduction to real estate taxes. We added almost $10m to our government for spending! I thought we were supposed to be conservatives?! Why not find ways to allow for a modest increase for inflation and give the majority back to our citizens?!

Along with giving back to our citizens, I want to add numbers to our police presence for East Roanoke County. Our officers are amazing, but we need more so all districts have no lag times. Last, but probably the most important we have got to start adding jobs! No quality jobs added in the last decade!
Simply look at my time on the school board...I've promoted transparency every step of the way. We started live streaming all meetings and work sessions. This came about when myself and one other school board member were fighting to keep our kids going to school in person every day. I wanted our citizens to hear our comments and see our actions first hand.

The Board of Supervisors only televise one meeting a month. Work sessions and joint meetings (w school board) are not televised. This shows no transparency for the non-televised meetings. Let's let the public in on all meetings other than closed sessions for legal or personnel issues.
The biggest challenge is the lack of high paying, long standing jobs! We need to go find these jobs. The days of sitting behind the desk and waiting on the phone to ring are long gone. One BOS member told me to accept we have become a retirement community. You know what happens in the stage of life after retirement?! I want Roanoke County to thrive and be here for our grandchildren. I do not want to accept we are going to be a retirement community and eventually end up like Southside Virginia from several years back. All localities around us seem to be thriving. Why not us?! We can do it!!
By building coalitions. It's not my way or the highway, it's our communities. Not five politicians sitting on the board. We need our business leaders involved in businesses and we need to listen to our citizens on issues in the neighborhoods. Our citizens are why we are here. Let's listen to them...
I fully believe in our right to bear arms, but I also believe there should be severe consequences for crimes. The time for being soft on crime has long passed us. I want to enable our officers to stand firm on any crime and I would hope our judges would see the benefit of placing criminals in incarceration as needed. We need to get tougher on crime!!
