I have lived in Colorado my entire life, raised by hard working parents who taught me the value of perseverance. As a third generation educator, I am strongly inspired by the transformative power of education. With a background in physics, I conducted research at NASA Glenn and UCCS, focusing on biomedical applications of magnetic particles. However, the overturning of Roe v. Wade ignited my passion for politics, leading to my role with the El Paso County Young Dems and inspiring my congressional run to protect the rights and liberties my mother and grandmother fought for.

Top 3 priorities are
- Codifying the protection of women’s reproductive healthcare and the right to an abortion with a federal bill. Abortion is part of healthcare and should be a protected human right.
- Addressing inflation and the high cost of living by reducing housing and healthcare expenses, holding corporations accountable, and promoting sustainable practices that protect the environment while strengthening the economy.
- Ensuring the safety of our national security. Ensuring that we treat our veterans with the respect and dignity they deserve, and fighting for the mental wellbeing of those returning home presently is essential to ensure the continued strength in our nation. Younger generations watch how we treat our veterans and I believe it is impacting recruitment.
One of the biggest threats to national security is the failure to adequately support our veterans, particularly in terms of mental health care. With an overwhelmed VA system and rising suicide rates among veterans, addressing this crisis is critical. As a member of Congress, I would prioritize increasing funding for mental health resources, improving access to VA services, and engaging directly with veterans to shape better policies. Strengthening care for veterans would also help rebuild trust in the military, boosting recruitment and ensuring that we protect those who protect us, which is vital for our nation’s security.
I support comprehensive immigration reform, including the bipartisan border deal proposed earlier this year. This plan would have bolstered border security by adding 1,500 more Border Protection personnel, 4,300 asylum officers, and 100 immigration judges to ensure more efficient and humane processing for asylum seekers while protecting our safety. Unfortunately, political gridlock prevented this from moving forward, which needs to stop. Additionally, I fully support protections for DACA recipients, ensuring that Dreamers have a clear path to citizenship and can continue contributing to our nation. As a member of Congress, I will represent Colorado’s 5th District by advocating for practical, humane solutions that strengthen our immigration system and honor our values.
To reduce household expenses, I would focus on housing affordability and tackling the student debt crisis. As a congresswoman, I would work with local officials to update and modernize the median income scale, ensuring that affordable housing programs are more accurately aligned with the true cost of living in our communities. Additionally, I would advocate for community land trusts, which allow for people-governed housing projects, creating long-term affordability and stability for renters and potential homeowners. Addressing the student debt crisis is also critical, as it prevents 20% of Americans from becoming homeowners by limiting their ability to secure home loans. By pushing for student debt relief and affordable housing initiatives, we can reduce the financial burden on families and help more people achieve homeownership.
I support lifting the income cap on Social Security taxes, ensuring that higher earners contribute more fairly to the system. Currently, income over $160,200 (as of 2023) is not taxed for Social Security, which limits the program's funding. By raising or eliminating this cap, we can significantly increase the funds available.
I would explore measures to gradually increase benefits for lower-income retirees while ensuring that any changes to the system do not reduce benefits for those who depend on them. This could be supported through adjustments to the payroll tax or by diversifying the system’s.
I would push for stronger protections against privatization efforts, ensuring that Social Security remains a guaranteed safety net for future generations. Making these adjustments would help stabilize the program, ensuring that it remains solvent and continues to provide for millions of Americans.
I would support a comprehensive approach to improving U.S. energy production that focuses on both reducing carbon emissions and promoting sustainability. I would advocate for increasing investments in renewable energy sources like solar, nuclear, and geothermal, which are essential for reducing reliance on fossil fuels. This transition is crucial for mitigating the effects of climate change, particularly in areas like Colorado where destructive wildfires are increasingly linked to rising temperatures.
I would support policies that promote fire-resilient technology and improved forest management to prevent wildfires, which can release massive amounts of carbon and further exacerbate climate change. Alongside this, we need to invest in energy storage technologies and a modernized grid to ensure reliable and efficient renewable energy distribution.
I believe in the urgent need for a universal childcare program to make raising children more affordable and prevent parents, especially women, from having to choose between careers and caregiving. This would level the playing field, especially for lower-income and marginalized communities who are disproportionately impacted by high childcare costs.
I would advocate for policies that directly address workplace discrimination, ensuring women receive equal pay and equal opportunities for advancement. It's unacceptable that highly qualified women, like Vice President Kamala Harris, often share the stage with far less qualified men due to systemic biases.
I will prioritize women's health issues, particularly for women of color, whose concerns are often ignored. Expanding access to reproductive and maternal care is essential to addressing these disparities. These actions reflect my commitment to equality and empowering women across all areas of society.
