I am running for re-election to continue serving Colorado's House District 10 with integrity, compassion, and a tireless dedication to advocating for a more just and equitable society. As a dedicated State Representative, I face everyday challenges alongside our community, understanding their economic struggles firsthand. From being a renter in Boulder to balancing law school and service as a former Boulder City Councilwoman and Mayor Pro Tem, I have navigated complex responsibilities effectively. With a law degree, passing the Colorado Bar, and owning a family law practice, I prioritize public service, mirroring my commitment to House District 10. As a proven advocate for Democratic priorities, I champion social justice and human rights through my work on criminal justice reform, bilingual accessibility, and governance transparency. With grassroots support, I ensure inclusive and progressive representation while addressing socio-economic disparities.

Honesty and transparency are essential for elected officials to build trust with constituents. Emotion regulation and effective communication help policymakers learn about problems impacting their constituents, foster inclusivity, and find common ground when seeking solutions despite different perspectives, especially when working with diverse constituents. Knowledge about justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion is vital for engaging in meaningful stakeholding processes that uplift all voices. By embracing open communication, recognizing our common humanity, and advocating for justice and inclusion, elected officials can create a more equitable and empathetic community where everyone is valued and heard.
Compromise is essential for effective policy making and underlies the principles of democracy by ensuring diverse voices are considered and respected in decision-making processes. It acknowledges varying viewpoints and fosters a sense of inclusive dialogue among stakeholders. Through compromise, policymakers demonstrate their willingness to listen, understand, and adjust policies to reflect everyone's needs. It encourages participation and engagement, enabling individuals to see the impact of policies on their lives, even if they may not fully align with them. Ultimately, compromise cultivates a sense of shared responsibility, making each stakeholder feel accountable and committed to collective progress toward a better future for everyone.
I am passionate about advocating for fair criminal justice systems, prioritizing restoration and community well-being. Over the last two years I passed 9 bills to ensure the rule of law in Colorado, including banning ghost guns. I champion sustainability and conservation efforts to combat climate change. In my first term, I passed 8 separate environmental sustainability and climate resiliency bills, including securing over 100 million dollars in E-Bike & EV credits. I work to empower youth by defending their access to high-quality education, protecting their fundamental rights, and supporting their mental health. Reproductive rights are paramount to me. I have passed a bill last year to provide access to doula services to pregnant peoples in Colorado. In sum, I have advocated for accessible, inclusive, affordable healthcare services that uphold individuals' rights and choices. In total I passed 36 bills to improve the lives of children and families, including renters protection.
Thanks to SOS J. Griswold and County Clerks, integrity of elections in Colorado is high. I am the Sponsor of House Bill 24-1147, regulating the use of deepfakes in elections. Further the bill provides a cause of action for more egregious behaviors such as defamation through a deepfake. HB24-1147 is about accountability and transparency. While we do significant work to foster transparency and access to voting, we must do more to enhance voter turnout and engagement to ensure broader representation and participation in democratic processes. I advocate for initiatives like the BIPOC Rising training I developed for the Boulder County Democratic Party that make it easier for individuals from low- and middle-income backgrounds to run for and serve in elected office. By prioritizing voter engagement, accessibility, and opportunities for underrepresented groups to run for office, we can strengthen democracy and ensure that all voices are heard and represented in Colorado's political landscape.
