Considering all the progress made and results delivered on a variety of fronts (for our police officers, firefighters, dispatchers, and other front-line employees), in addition to finding continued tax relief for our taxpayers, the greatest priority in this budget was to ensure growth in tax streams without increasing the burden on residents.

Doing so will enable continued support for educators and critical projects that are essential to the growth of our city. It will also mean we are able to protect Sandusky & TC Miller Elementary Schools from a harmful & early closure, too, and that was the final piece in the puzzle for me. Anyone running for Ward IV must recognize how the early closure of these schools most adversely affects Ward IV.
Early Closure of Sandusky & TC Miller (or preventing it), increasing Teacher pay, emphasizing the classroom more than administration, and ensuring parents are front of mind.

We must transition to an elected school board. The closure issue has proven that fact, and I have always said it should be an elected post, not appointed. This will put the parents more directly in charge of the division and ensure greater accountability.
