I have served on the Belgrade school board for the past nine years and feel this one year position would help me work as a team member to finish the present board's vision of making Belgrade Schools the best they can be.
I have the time to give back to the Belgrade community and schools where I received an excellent education. Holding both a bachelors and a master degrees in education, I have had a long career as a teacher and as the Gallatin County Superintendent of Schools. This has given me a background in school law, school finance, and issues facing today’s education. I consider that knowledge to be a valuable asset for a school board trustee.
1. To be knowledgeable of local and state educational issues and be a major supporter of education.
2. To continue to hire qualified professionals who will be key players in building a stronger educational system in Belgrade.
3. To be a team player who listens to all points of view, but will be able to make those hard decisions.
With a growing student population, Belgrade can no longer be considered a small school district. Therefore, the most pressing issue facing the district as it continues to grow will be guaranteeing that all students receive a quality education preparing them for their future careers.

I'm compelled to run because I believe most politics in this country to be broken. I believe it's time to try something different. I intend to implement a referendum voting platform to allow the power of decision to remain with the constituency rather than with a politician. It is explained in detail on my website at fraserfor44.com.
I also believe that Americans are not as polarized as we are being told. I believe that when faced with difficult decisions, that American values will prevail.
This platform gives the constituent the opportunity to vote on the issues, instead of for a representative who they hope has integrity. On this platform, I cannot be bought, bribed, or canceled. The constituent holds the decision making power.
In my opinion, when it comes to politics, there should be only one qualification required: That the will of the people be done. If you agree, then this platform qualifies me to be the most effective school board trustee that Belgrade 44 has ever seen. Whenever possible, I will relinquish the power of decision to the constituency. What I'm offering is the purest form of representation that we have available to us.
I promise to facilitate the setting up of a private, non-profit with community volunteers sitting on the board to receive, count, and certify votes from Belgrade 44 constituents for me to vote at board meetings. This will keep all of the votes private and secure. (Not susceptible to FOIA requests) Power To The People.
Answering this as it pertains to my unique platform, there will be instances where polling the constituency will not be practical and/or possible. Some examples would include closed door sessions of the board where HR issues are handled, or hiring and termination of faculty/staff.
In cases such as these, I would share the role and responsibility of the other trustees to ensure the functionality of the education system. In addition, to implement my platform, I will be required to table motions to allow time for you, the voters of Belgrade 44, to decide how you want to vote on the issue. I will act in good faith, but if some board members refuse to vote to allow motions/discussions to be tabled, elections are never more than 364 days away.
There are several issues, I feel the biggest challenge is still the influx of families into the area.
What sets me apart from the other candidates is my approach to solving these issues. Because I am running on a referendum-based platform, I will invite the community in to discuss and debate these issues, poll the constituents, and vote how they tell me to. A real world example of this is the 60 and a half million dollar bond that the current board has asked us to vote for on May 7th. On my platform, the community might have decided that instead of a new elementary school, we could remodel Heck-Quaw at a third of the cost and in turn, I would have voted against the bond. If the will of the people is done, my platform is a success.
