Board of County Commissioners, District 1
Brevard County has a Commission-Manager form of government. The Board of Commissioners is the governing body and holds all legislative powers. There are five members representing each of the Districts in the county, elected by eligible voters of the county. Each must be qualified voters and continuously reside in the District they represent. The Board is empowered to create ordinances, enter into contracts and issue bonds to finance public projects. The Board of Commissioners are responsible for adopting the county Budget, determining county Property Taxes, and regulating Planning, Zoning, and Land Development, Health and Safety Services, Parks and Recreation, Solid Waste Management, Utilities, Housing and Human Services and more in accordance with the county Charter. The Board of Commissioners appoints and oversees the City Manager, who serves as chief administrative officer and executive officer of the county. The Board also appoints and oversees the County Attorney. The Board of Commissioners usually meets every two weeks and meetings are televised on educational access television.Term: 4 years, no more than 2 consecutive termsSalary: $60,273

Our District 1 Economic Zone was removed already so we currently do not have one. With a focus solely on infrastructure, I have zero expectation of a new one being brought to the table. If our roads are faulty and our stormwater is faulty, economic development will suffer.
My entire campaign is 100% focused on infrastructure repairs. This benefits both of these groups. No property owner or tenants in District 1 should flood due to bad stormwater repairs.
This is a great question that I genuinely haven't seen before. I am not here to remove these programs or add new programs. My focus is on our failing infrastructure but I would be happy to work alongside these groups to help our disadvantaged.
I do not believe Brevard is for sale. Running a campaign on increasing Impact Fees tells developers Brevard is For Sale, just at a higher price. I don't agree. At this moment District 1 needs to focus solely on infrastructure repairs and maintenance and not on more development.
AI Data Centers are a terrible product at the moment. They use too many resources and don't function at a level the people are comfortable with. That may change in 20 years, but for now, its a NO for Brevard County.
I do not expect dramatic reduced county revenues. As we can see, our budget is increasing again this year. Its been rising dramatically the last few years and there seems to be no sign it is going to stop. Nor do I expect the citizens quality of life to go down. Our streets are flooding up here in district one. Its time to work and fix that, which brings our quality of life up, not down.
