Montclair Township Mayor

The governing body of Montclair Township is comprised of the Mayor and the Township Council. The mayor is elected directly by the voters. Though the Mayor has no executive powers, the mayor presides over council meetings and has both a voice and vote in its proceedings. The Mayor appoints members to local governing groups; for example, the Montclair Public Library and the Historic Preservation Commission.The Mayor and the Township Council, are elected to concurrent four-year terms on a non-partisan basis in elections held as part of the May municipal elections.
