The Economy and Immigration are the two most important challenges facing our country. The economy is doing well, and job creation is off the charts, but people are upset by what they see at the grocery store. Consolidation is the problem. It’s not talked about much, but our food supply is controlled by only a few companies. Immigration has been has always been a problem. Comprehensive Immigration is the only way forward. First deal with the people we have here, then build an infrastructure to process the amount of people we want to let into the country each month Our basic freedoms are being eroded; women’s reproductive rights and our voting rights are two big ones on the ballot. A woman’s right to choose and obtain healthcare needs to be between her and her healthcare professional. We need to make it easier and safer for people to vote, not harder.
Support the PRO Act; The People’s Right to Organize and The Fair Pay Act. Worker support and protection is important. I have seen first hand how Unions supported and protected workers in my family. Republicans go on about deregulation. We can all agree that bad or outdated regulations are bad, but regulations that protect our drinking water and the air we breathe are under attack. I will work to strengthen them. De-regulation has allowed many companies to off-shore jobs. We need to incentivize them to stay and discourage them from leaving. We can do this through proper regulation. Speaking with minority groups to hear their challenges and working with them to secure equality and proper equity is important. Job creation will be greatly supported by getting the off-shore wind projects moving forward. This is a whole new industry just waiting to explode in NJ.
We can restore public confidence in elections through three key strategies. Strengthening election security, providing clear messaging about election integrity, and enhancing communication about election processes and results are indeed crucial steps in restoring faith in our democratic system. Expanding voter access is fundamental to ensuring all eligible citizens can participate in the democratic process. The various voting options, such as vote by mail, early voting, and election day voting, provide flexibility and convenience to voters, ultimately increasing turnout and representation. Vote By Mail, in particular, stands out as a potent tool for expanding voter access. By enabling individuals to cast their ballots securely and conveniently from their homes, it removes barriers to participation, especially for those who may face challenges physically accessing polling locations on election day.
Immigration has been has always been a problem. The southern border is nothing but theater Republicans use to garner votes while blocking their own legislation that could alleviate some of the burdens. There are several parts to our immigration system that need to be addressed separately. We need to deal with the people that are already in the US. DACA recipients should be made citizens immediately. Others will fall into different categories that can be negotiated, but they should be able to apply for some type of legal status. Once we have done this, we can crack down on people’s ability to live under the radar. We need an infrastructure that can handle the amount of people we let into the country. 90% of those entering for asylum would be rejected, but it takes many years to adjudicate their cases. If they were processed immediately, it would prevent many from even attempting as they know they will be rejected. This is just the beginning of my plan.
Overall, a majority of U.S. adults (67%) support prioritizing the development of renewable energy, such as wind and solar, over expanding the production of oil, coal and natural gas. Still, the public overall is hesitant about a full energy transition: Just 31% say the U.S. should phase out fossil fuels completely, according to Pew Research. My approach is not to phase out fossil fuels, but to phase out the need for fossil fuels, by providing and alternative energy path to the future that is more desirable on a practical level not just a moral level. The Inflation Reduction Act is only the start. It includes large-scale investment in clean transportation infrastructure to combat environmental & traffic pollution. We will see this in my district, with the prioritizing investment in New Jersey's coastal wind energy. It's up to us to develop new union jobs in clean energy to modernize our energy grid with cutting-edge solar and wind energy.
Protecting women's reproductive rights is fundamental to ensuring individual autonomy and bodily sovereignty. Every person should have the right to make their own healthcare decisions in consultation with their healthcare provider, free from interference or coercion. This includes access to a full range of reproductive healthcare services, including abortion, contraception, and comprehensive family planning. Furthermore, supporting access to reproductive healthcare services is not only a matter of individual rights but also a public health imperative. Ensuring access to safe and legal abortion services, contraception, and reproductive healthcare contributes to healthier outcomes for individuals and communities as a whole. As a proponent of women's reproductive rights, I stand firmly in support of individuals' rights to make their own reproductive choices and will work to protect and expand access to essential healthcare services for all.
Given the state of Europe, the War in Ukraine and the unsettled state of the Middle East, we are seeing wars disrupting our global economies. While some people want to move to isolationism, I believe the United States should be leading. We need to stand by our allies, when needed and demonstrate a better path forward when necessary. We also need to invest in our infrastructure and make sure the US continues to lead in the Global Economy. China is having their own financial issues with rising debt and decreasing consumer spending, this will have global implications. Their de-dollarization could be destabilizing globally and our trade relations are tense. The US-China Agreement to stop the illicit fentanyl from coming into the country is a start in this tenuous relationship we can hope for the future, but remain cautious.
