The last two years we have found innovative ways to fund education. Resulting in lowering property taxes and income taxes while helping our local school districts with funding their aging facilities. We have also made it possible for our graduating seniors to continue on to receive training for in demand careers in Idaho. This will result in Idaho kids being able to stay in Idaho and raise a family while adding to the state's tax base. This is preferable to subtracting from it or having to move elsewhere to raise a family. I would like to continue to explore the possibilities in funding our public education in different ways that will both benefit the students and our communities. There is much that can be accomplished by working together.
I have learned much serving as your Representative the past two years. I have drawn on my Bachelors of Science degree in economics, along with my experience in starting up and running several small business in Idaho. I have served nine years on my local school board which has given me an unique understanding of our education system and how it works. I have also served for nine years on the State Idaho Farm Bureau Board and the Idaho Farm Bureau Insurance Board. Perhaps serving on my local community FFA advisory board and local church positions have taught me the most. Being a farmer and rancher has taught me that you don't always get what you want. You have to work together and keep trying to accomplish anything worth while.
The rapid growth that Idaho is facing is the most significant challenge for Idaho. This growth affects all of Idaho's infrastructure and resources. It puts a stress on our roads, bridges, schools, emergency responders, and water along with everything else. As your representative, I can work to find a way to address this growth that will put the burden on those benefiting from the growth, rather than raising taxes. I know this can be done if we are willing to work together and think outside the box. If we were able to get money to the schools while lowering property tax in a bill, I know we can fund the needs of Idaho while we face this problem head on.
Yes. I am a pro life candidate. I believe all life is sacred and should be protected. I believe abortion should not be used as a form of birth control; however, there needs to be some exceptions for the health of the mother, viability of the fetus, rape and incest. An expecting mother should not be required to carry a dead child to term. The government should not be the one deciding these decisions. It should be the family, spiritual leaders, and their doctors. The government should not be placing value on one life over another. This can become a very slippery slope very fast.
Thank you. It has been my honor to serve as your Representative the past two years. I have learned a lot and look forward to the opportunity to continue to serve you in this capacity. I believe if we work together and are willing to put the time in we can solve any problem that Idaho is facing. I firmly believe this is the greatest State in the nation, and will fight to keep it that way. We don't need out of state organizations coming in and telling us what, and how we should govern our state. This is Idaho. Thank you again and I wish you all the best. Representative Dan Garner

Provide responsive and captive representation that is independent, sensible, practical, balanced for community needs within District 28. Restore common sense within a functioning two party system in Idaho. Whether it is education, healthcare, corrections, criminal justice, land use, water management, taxation and budget; I want to provide representation that reflects the values, needs, and best interests of District 28. I want to promote civil, constructive, and respectful disagreement with collaboration that does not create false conflict between equally important values and interests produced by undue loyalty and allegiance to ideology. I do want to promote greater choice in education to include children with IEPS.
Professionally, I have worked for large corporations, small business, within government, as well as the non-profit sectors. All of my work experience required root-cause problem skills combined with collaboration to find practical solutions. I have worked with elected public officials and skilled professionals throughout my professional life that required cooperation and the ability to reconcile competing interests to not only implement solutions; but solutions that achieve intended outcomes and avoid unintended consequences. I received my education from Pocatello public schools, Brigham Young University, Arizona State University, Monterey Institute of International Studies, and La Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México.
The opportunity to manage growth and divergent interests. As a legislator, I can work with local communities within District 28 to ensure elected leaders and residents have collaboration as well as empowerment from the State Legislature without infringing upon the principle of local control as we confront demographic shifts and growth. We cannot afford to be polarized, with a top-down approach as a State at a time of unprecedented growth and opportunity. At present, not all interests and practical approaches are considered in our legislature which is impeding our management of growth and transdental change taking place. I am prepared to provide the balance with independence from ideology with a focus on needs for District 28.
Yes. I would add the traumatic cases of incest and rape, circumstances of conceived defect or that could compromise future reproductive health for the mother. We have wrestled this wedge issue perpetually, a perfect example of creating false conflict between equally important values and principles. I don’t view circumstances of rape, incest, or life threatening pregnancy in consultation with a medical professional create this false conflict of a binary choice. This is a matter of freedom of conscience exercised by the individual and their families. Medical professionals should not be precluded from current standard of care due to criminalization. Women and families should likewise be afforded exercise of agency precluded in Idaho.
I have never sought or held public office. I strive to be authentic and understanding. I understand representation of others requires active listening. If you want an independent but collaborative approach to the issues that strives to be practical not ideological, I will be that type of representative. Let’s restore the two-party system in Idaho. We need both an effective majority and minority to navigate the great opportunity of change and growth here in Idaho. Please vote Meline in District 28 for a Sensible, Practical, and Balanced Idaho
