Qualifications I am a retired Air Force Colonel and Hilton Head has been my home for the past 11 years. I’ve spent a lifetime in service both in uniform and in my community. I served as the SOuth Carolina Ambassador ro the Women’s Memorial in Washington, DC and here on Hilton Head, I’ve served as an HOA President, a Deacon, and now an Elder in my church, and a volunteer with many organizations including the Hilton Head Humane Association. I served our country for 28 years and my professional experience has prepared me to lead District 123 with a people and mission first mindset. Commanding large organizations gave me the needed experience in planning, strategy, communication and most importantly, listening and representing the people who depend on you.
Education Undergraduate Degree from The Pennsylvania State University, and MBA from Regis University in Denver, Colorado
Secure and accessible voting is the key to our democracy. I support the ongoing use of upgraded technology, legal safeguards and inclusive voting practices to ensure both elections security and voter accessibility. SC already uses paper-backed voting systems which is a baseline for secure elections. We have early in-person voting and absentee voting but we should investigate expanding early voting and voting hours and improve accessibility for voters with disabilities. We need to increase transparency and public trust and protect voters from barriers or intimidation. Security and access are non-partisan issues that benefit all voters and allow everyone’s vote to be counted.
South Carolina must ensure that every child - regardless of zip code - has access to high quality public education. We can do this with fair, student-centered funding that prioritizes under-resourced communities. We also need all day pre-K and we must invest in excellent teachers by giving them competitive pay and support. We should strengthen accountability and give local schools flexibility to meet their students’ needs, expand technical pathways alongside college prep and ensure safe and modern learning environments. Education is not a partisan issue - it’s an investment in our children, our workforce, our economy and ourfuture.
South Carolina should take practical, fiscally responsible steps to expand access to affordable healthcare for all residents. We need to increase access to primary care and preventative care - especially in rural areas - by supporting community health centers and telehealth services. We need to invest in training and incentives for doctors, nurses and mental health professionals. We also need to improve transparency in pricing, and encourage competition and address prescription drug costs to help families. We have to focus on common-sense solutions that reduce emergency room overuse, and ensure every South Carolinian can get the care they need when they need it.
Data centers require in-depth study before approval. As a legislator, I would ensure that data centers pay the full cost of new energy infrastructure so residents aren’t subsidizing them. We need to require water-use reporting, conservation standards, and drought contingency plans. Tax incentives need to be tied to job creation, local investment and long-term caommitments. Establishment would absolutely require transparency and local input. This means a clear disclosure of energy/water use and strengthening local zoning authority. SC welcomes innovation - but only with strong safeguards to protect taxpayers, natural resources and local communities.
