Qualifications 30 years as an educator and an advocate for local families
I would begin by researching the monthly premiums for consumers and finding out what happens to those funds. In essence, the current healthcare system is for profit, and I would research during my first year in office ways to eliminate unnecessary consumer spending in healthcare such as paying the office visit fee and prescription fees. I also believe lab work should be a part of premium fees that consumers pay monthly. Eliminating the above fee categories from consumers’ responsibilities can help with decreasing healthcare costs.
First, I would visit the borders to make a visual assessment of the borders to determine if they overpopulated with immigrants. Second, I would continue to close the border; however provide health assistance to all who may have arrived ill or battered. Third, I would provide shelter at the border that are min-houses so that people coming here would have temporary housing for immigrants.
I would have all eligible voters to bring a form of ID on election. Then, I would install a new computer system for voting and this should keep all elections secure.
I believe that each chamber should have a different political party as the leader. I also be believe in order to have a balance of powers the President and the Vice President should be from different parties.

Qualifications Former U.S. Coast Guard federal law enforcement officer; experienced litigator; former local government attorney for Town of Mount Pleasant and General Counsel for the Town of Hilton Head Island.
Education The Citadel, BA (2015); Charleston School of Law, JD (2018); University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, MBA (2024)
Healthcare costs are crushing Lowcountry families. I've seen it firsthand. After leaving the Coast Guard, I struggled to access VA care I'd earned. I support universal healthcare through a strong public option that gives every family access to affordable coverage while preserving private insurance for those who want it. I'll fight to expand Medicaid in South Carolina, which KFF projects would cover roughly 200,000 uninsured residents and generate over $600 million in net economic benefit. And I'll push to lower drug prices by letting Medicare negotiate directly with pharmaceutical companies.
As a Coast Guard veteran and federal law enforcement officer, I enforced immigration law on the water. I know firsthand that border security is real and it matters. But I also know that our immigration system is broken in ways that hurt both security and our economy. We need comprehensive reform: stronger, smarter border enforcement paired with a workable legal pathway for people already contributing to our communities. We should clear the visa backlog, fix the asylum system so it processes claims faster and fairly, and create legal immigration channels that match the needs of American employers and workers. Enforcement without reform just kicks the can down the road.
Every eligible citizen should be able to cast a ballot, and every ballot cast should be counted accurately. Those two things are not in conflict. I support automatic voter registration, expanded early voting, and protecting the ability to vote by mail for those who need it. I also support commonsense measures to maintain election integrity and public confidence in results. What I oppose is using the language of election security as a pretext to make it harder for working people, seniors, and military families to vote. As someone who served to defend this country's freedoms, I take the right to vote seriously. It has to be both secure and accessible.
I'm a lawyer and a veteran, and I took an oath to the Constitution twice. The balance of power isn't a partisan talking point. It's the architecture that protects everyone's freedom regardless of who is in the White House. Congress has been too willing to cede its authority to the executive branch for decades, and we're seeing the consequences of that now. In Congress, I'll push to reassert legislative authority over war powers, trade policy, and the federal budget. I'll support strong oversight of executive agencies and I'll oppose executive overreach whether it comes from a president of my party or the other. The founders designed three co-equal branches for a reason. Congress needs members willing to act like it.

The working people of SC and the nation at large require and deserve nothing less than a Single-Payer system for universal healthcare (Medicare for all). It is the model that nearly all other developed nations use to guarantee their citizens healthcare as a right, both at a lower cost per person and with better healthcare outcomes within the US. My goal is to implement a Single-Payer system while maintaining and expanding what healthcare safety nets we do have, as well as breaking up healthcare and pharmaceutical monopolies until Single-payer can be achieved.
More resources need to be allocated to our immigration system, so it is no longer prohibitively expensive or time consuming to immigrate to the US through official channels. Border security can longer be permitted to use inhumane methods like razor wire to entrap desperate people searching for better circumstances. ICE, as an institution is entirely rotten; a private police force, accountable only to an authoritarian president and wielded as a terror squad against perceived political enemies. Ice must be disbanded, and any important duties under its umbrella given back to more accountable law enforcement agencies.
We need to introduce automatic voter registration for all citizens upon reaching voting age, as has already been done elsewhere in the world. Additionally, election days should be designated as holidays and early voting periods should include weekends to maximize voter access to physical polling locations. The availability of mail-in voting must be increased, and obstacles to mail-in voting removed
Congress has the authority to determine the size of the supreme court, bar partisan justices from appointment, remove corrupt justices, remove presidents, nullify executive orders, override regulation and action by federal agencies, and even amend the constitution to further limit the powers of the executive and judicial branches. The Legislature should already be making liberal use of these authorities to bar the other branches from consolidating power and bringing harm to the American people.

Qualifications Normal guy who makes the amount of money most people make and faces the challenges most people share.
Education BA in Economics from USC
I support a Single-Payer Healthcare system. A for-profit healthcare system cannot be a for-people healthcare system. We should do what another nations do - create a national payment plan for all Americans' healthcare. Others nations extend treatment to all of their citizens while spending far less per person than America.

Medicare for All is the most well-known strategy to implement a Single-Payer model. All Americans would be enrolled into an improved Medicare model over a 4 year period. Until automatic enrollment is available, Americans could buy into Medicare through a public option. Medicare would cover more services, end out-of-pocket expenses, and negotiate the price of medicines and services with providers to remain affordable.
ICE should be abolished. ICE cannot remain as a standing private army for the president. It should be replaced with an immigration enforcement agency that answers to the American people.

I believe we should know who every person is who enters America, but our need for immigration reform does not demand the level of cruelty or abuse we have witnessed under the Trump Administration.

Immigrants brought to the US as children should be given citizenship. We should create legal work-pathways for most undocumented immigrants with clean records. The mass-deportation operations under the Trump regime are injuring our economy and hurting good people.

We must protect the liberty, security, and dignity of all people within our borders.
I support electoral reforms that would make gerrymandering impossible, such as creating Multi-Member Districts with Proportional Representation for political parties. Such reforms would make sure all political parties (or independent candidates) have representation in Congress that is truly reflective of their support amongst the American people.

Additionally, I oppose the SAVE Act. If Republicans want to demand photo ID to vote, they must publicly provide Americans with said photo ID - free of charge. Otherwise, privately-purchased photo IDs (such as passports and re-issued birth certificates) essentially become a poll tax.

Lastly, I support campaign finance reforms to make sure candidates care more about our votes than our wallets
I would introduce articles of impeachment against Donald Trump for obstruction of justice, bribery, and his illegal acts of war against Venezuela and Iran.

Congress' primary task is creating legislation, but it is also charged with defending our nation against corrupt and criminal regimes.

Additionally, we must reject Project 2025's attempts to normalize the "unitary executive theory" which seeks to end independent regulatory agencies or incorporate their powers into the office of the president.
Quality healthcare starts with lowering costs and expanding access for working families. I support protecting coverage for people with preexisting conditions, restoring Affordable Care Act subsidies, and lowering prescription drug prices by allowing Medicare to negotiate more drug costs. We also need to cap out-of-pocket expenses and hold insurance companies accountable for practices that drive up costs without improving care.

I also believe we need to expand access to providers, especially in primary care and mental health, so families in every community can get the care they need without facing financial hardship.
I believe we need a strong, secure border and an immigration system that is orderly, lawful, and fair. I’ve personally led both military and civilian law enforcement operations, and I know how important professionalism and clear leadership are to mission success. The chaos and lack of public trust we are seeing around immigration enforcement today is largely the result of a toxic culture starting at the top.

We need to strengthen border management, speed up case processing, and reduce backlogs, while also creating clear legal pathways for people who want to work, contribute, and become part of our communities legally.
I believe every eligible American should be able to vote securely and without unnecessary barriers. That means protecting the integrity of our elections while also expanding access through measures like early voting, secure absentee voting, and efficient voter registration systems.

I’m also concerned by efforts we’re seeing here in South Carolina and across the country that undermine public trust in elections or attempt to change the rules in the middle of the process. Our democracy works best when people have confidence that elections are fair, transparent, and administered consistently for everyone.
Congress has a responsibility to serve as a co-equal branch of government and provide oversight and accountability no matter which party controls the White House. That includes protecting the rule of law, respecting the independence of the courts, and ensuring executive power is not abused.

I spent 35 years in the military serving under administrations of both parties, and I know strong institutions depend on the checks and balances our country was founded on, and leaders willing to put the country ahead of politics.

Qualifications I am qualified to serve in Congress because my education, experience, and service have prepared me to lead. I hold degrees in economics and law, with graduate training in international law, foreign trade, and international relations. I have worked as a community organizer, nonprofit advisor, and immigration law advocate, helping families and fighting for fairness. As the first Latina elected Second Vice Chair of the South Carolina Democratic Party, I built coalitions and organized communities of color into the political process. In the Lowcountry, I have volunteered with organizations such as Habitat for Humanity and Hopeful Horizons, strengthening families and communities. I am ready to serve South Carolina’s 1st District in Congress.
Education Bachelor’s Degree in Economics — strong foundation in economic policy, affordability, labor markets, and fiscal issues affecting families. Juris Doctor (Law Degree) — legal training in constitutional law, civil rights, public policy, and advocacy. Master’s Degree in International Law / Foreign Trade / International Relations — advanced study in global economics, trade, diplomacy, and international policy relevant to ports, commerce, national security, and South Carolina’s growing economy.
Healthcare is a human right, not a privilege. I support universal coverage through a Medicare for All approach that guarantees every American access to quality, affordable care. In Congress, I will fight to lower prescription drug costs, expand mental health services, protect rural hospitals, and invest in community health centers so access does not depend on zip code. I will also defend reproductive healthcare, including contraception, prenatal care, IVF, and abortion access, because medical decisions belong to patients and doctors—not politicians. Every family in South Carolina deserves the security of knowing they can get the care they need without fear of financial ruin.
I will fight for comprehensive, humane immigration reform that provides a clear and achievable pathway to citizenship for long-term undocumented residents, protects Dreamers and TPS holders, and strengthens our legal immigration system. In South Carolina and across the Lowcountry, immigrant families are small business owners, healthcare workers, construction workers, hospitality employees, and military families. They contribute to our economy, pay taxes, and are part of the fabric of our communities. We need smart border security, faster legal processing, and immigration laws that reflect both order and dignity. America is strongest when we uphold our values, keep families together, and create a fair system rooted in opportunity, security,
I support voting systems that are secure, fair, and accessible to every eligible citizen. That means protecting elections through strong cybersecurity, paper ballot backups, transparent audits, and safeguards against interference. It also means expanding early voting, secure absentee voting, accessible polling places, language assistance, and fair voter registration. We must also end racial gerrymandering and voter suppression practices that dilute the voices of communities of color or create barriers to participation. Every American, regardless of race, income, disability, language, or zip code, deserves equal access to the ballot box. Our democracy is strongest when every eligible voice can be heard, and every vote is counted fairly.
Congress has a constitutional duty to serve as a co-equal branch of government and protect the balance of power through oversight, accountability, and lawmaking. That means Congress must act as a check on executive overreach, defend the independence of the judiciary, and ensure that no branch operates above the law. It must exercise strong oversight, protect voting rights and civil liberties, and uphold the Constitution, not partisan interests. Our democracy depends on leaders willing to defend institutions, respect checks and balances, and put country over politics. A healthy democracy requires all three branches to function independently, responsibly, and in service to the American people.
